Here are some of the top 15U guards from The Finale (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):
Jack Lauer, SSA Black 15U, Marysville:
The 6-foot-1 Lauer has range to spare. He is a solid ball handler who can rebound the ball and push it end to end himself. He isn’t averse to fighting in the lane, rebounding, and defending. His size and combination of skills make him a player to watch.
Kade Perine, SSA White 15U, Rossville:
Though listed at just 5-foot-4, Perine makes up for anything he lacks in height with heart. He is one of the hardest workers and intense players on the court. He goes full speed and is a brilliant ball handler. Left alone he can pop from distance, but he’s even more dangerous driving and finding open scorers.
Tre Richardson, Kansas 94×50 Elite 15U, Highland Park:
Richardson looks cut from the same cloth as recent small Highland Park standout guards. He is an elite ball handler, quick as a hiccup, and skilled at setting up shooters. He’s also a demon on defense, combining craftiness with super-quick hands.
Kellan Simoneau, TTB KS – Perez 15U, Rose Hill:
Simoneau is a slightly-built 5-foot-11 point guard, but he’s not frail. Just the opposite, he’s tough as nails and doesn’t back down from physicality or handling the ball under heavy pressure. He is an elite ball handler who understands his role is to quarterback the offense and create opportunities. He sets up his own shots with a killer cross-over.
Wyatt Wynn, Team KC – Kerr 15U, Olathe West:
A point guard to watch on the Kansas City scene, the 5-foot-10 Wynn impressed at The Finale with his ability to drive through any defense. He has a knack for blowing by a defender and leaving him in the dust. He knifes through the lane to kick to shooters. He occasionally gets to the rim himself, and he also shoots a nice pull-up jumper.
