We covered Minnesota live, but don’t fear Illinois teams that were in Kansas City we got you covered too! All this week we are rolling out our Film Room evaluations from the event! Here is The Finale Film Room: Chicago Demons 16U!
Amorion Stephens (Simeon – 2022)
Stephens is a 5’10” point guard that has long arms. Early in the game he struggled a bit with turnovers and over dribbling. Then he would take over the game against NEBC and lead his team back to a come from behind win. The lefty point guard drilled an array of mid-range shots and threes off the catch. Sound form with a quick release. His shot making and confidence stood out. Two key free throws late to secure the win.
Tim Taiwo (Brooks – 2022)
Taiwo is built like a football player. At 6’2” with a strong and stocky built guard did a nice job defensively on NEBC’s top prospect who was significantly taller and a freak athlete. Used his physicality and moved his feet defensively. Most of his points came off his defense. The only jumper he made was the biggest of the game as he drilled a three in the last minute to give his team the lead.
Alex Gutierrez (DePaul Prep – 2022)
Slender 6’1” point guard that has an excellent passing feel. Threw several bullet passes for dimes. As a scorer he converted in the lane on several slick takes. Creative ball handler that weaved in between defenders.
Lashawn Pollard (Vocational – 2022)
Pollard is listed at only 6’3”, but plays as more of a power forward. He has a strong frame. Was impactful early on defensively swatting shots inside. His rebounding was his calling card as he owned the boards throughout the game. High motor player that gets after the glass on both ends. Hit a pair of threes looking pretty comfortable in doing so. Needs to work on his free throws as much as he gets to the charity stripe. Pollard was a major reason his team won.
Deven Jiles (Richards – 2022)
Jiles is another undersized post that plays taller than his size. Strong power forward finished with explosiveness in the paint. Multiple and-1s on quick moves in the paint and running his lane in the open floor were how he got his points. Usually when the ball touched his hands positive things happened. Rebounded well throughout the game.
