The 1st annual Tampa Live tournament hosted by Tourney Kingz was held at the brand new Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex this weekend.

Young and older talent were on hand for the Saturday and Sunday and slate.

Here is a look at the top standouts from the 2021-2022 classes.

[player_tooltip player_id="546193" first="AJ" last="Brown"] | 6-4 | Orlando Christian Prep

Longer than he appears, 2022 guard Anthony "AJ" Brown has all the tools. His 16U E1T1 group was playing up during the Sunday slate and he led the way with 26 points in a loss to Team Speights. A highly versatile lead guard, he can play off the ball as well and hurt you with his shot. Most impressively, he stays aggressive and attacks the rim with his explosiveness and size. The sky is the limit for Brown who holds offers from Alabama, USF, Hofstra and Stetson.

[player_tooltip player_id="814921" first="Romulo" last="Delgado-Gonzalez"] & [player_tooltip player_id="953808" first="Davin" last="Hernandez"] | Jax Fam Basketball

For Jax Fam Basketball, this squad had the gym buzzing on Saturday behind a game winning 3-pointer from Delgado-Gonzalez with 0.6 seconds left against Skills Center Elite (VIDEO). A 2022 guard/forward from Coral Gables High, he didn’t back down despite playing an age group. Finishing with 21 points, he was smooth with the ball in his hands and he finds openings for smart shots often. He is a high IQ player. Also, Hernandez, a 2021 Florida Christian guard displayed a reliable deep ball with six 3’s to total 22 points in that game. He was on fire at times.

[player_tooltip player_id="818666" first="Dean" last="Gabrelcik"] & [player_tooltip player_id="773463" first="Michael" last="Phillips"] | Team Speights

In a Sunday afternoon tilt with E1T1 16U, Team Speights played together per usual and brought it all on both ends of the floor. Gabrelcik, a 2021 guard continued his hot shooting summer with 22 points (five 3’s in the first half). He is confident as ever after earning a Stetson offer earlier this month. That should translate well into his senior campaign for Class 6A state semifinalist East Lake. As for Phillips, the big bodied 2021 forward is a beast on the boards, a hard-nosed shot blocker and a clean up artist offensively. He posted eight points in the win and did a lot that didn’t show up on the final stat sheet.

[player_tooltip player_id="953082" first="Trae" last="Martin"] & [player_tooltip player_id="818677" first="EJ" last="Hubbert"] | Florida Elite

To start the Saturday slate, I tuned into Team Speights take on Florida Elite in the 17U division. Two Tampa/Clearwater natives stood out for Florida Elite in Hubbert and Martin, a 2021 pair. Hubbert led the charge with a team-best 17 points. His mid-range was working and he was attacking the basket often which was great to see. He is a true combo guard who has added plenty of muscle this summer. Martin, a big bodied forward was working down low and finishing with his strength and ability to battle on the way to 15 points. Both guys are under the radar players.

[player_tooltip player_id="818707" first="Tony" last="Green"] & [player_tooltip player_id="527365" first="Troy" last="Boynton"] | Team Speights

In the win over Florida Elite, 2021 pair Green and Boynton were the top pieces for Team Speights. Green continues his steady summer where he has displayed an improved mid-range and more confidence getting to the cup. He had 20 points in the victory and has room to fill out his long frame further at Naples. Boynton transferred from Ft. Lauderdale Westminster to Tennessee Baylor Prep just a month ago. In this tilt, he had a highly productive 14 points where his ball skills were making defenders lose track of him as he used his floater and jumper to score inside. Both players hold Division I offers and can produce there.

[player_tooltip player_id="814906" first="CJ" last="Hawkins"], Dozie Okoroji & [player_tooltip player_id="546226" first="Jamar" last="Houston"] | Team Judah Nation

In a late Sunday outing against SOH Elite, Team Judah Nation trio stood out in the victory. Hawkins (Berkeley Prep - 2022), a major factor all summer and impressive big lead guard had 24 points which included 19 second half points as he got to the basket relentlessly. Okoroji (Maclay - 2022) posted a 19-point game showing off his length/athleticness and ability to finish with or without the ball. Houston (Central Florida Christian - 2022) added 16 points and was reliable when his team needed a bucket or jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id="818654" first="Oteman" last="Delancy"] | 6-4 | SPSA Runs

On Saturday afternoon, Delancy flourished in a victory over Rock United. Entering his senior season at Lakewood, the 2021 guard is in line for the top leadership role for a team that has had back to back really good seasons. In this game in Tampa, Delancy scored a team-best 25 points. He was flying up and down the floor. Delancy has a smooth outside shot and is an athletic rangy player. His game will be highly appreciated by college coaches who turn on his film.

Other names to know:

Jaylen Bernard & Brennan Whyte | Rock United

A pair of South Florida boys were stretching the floor for Rock United in a loss to SPSA Runs on Saturday. Bernard, a 6-5 Cypress Bay guard/forward was electric and dominant times. He had a vicious putback slam in the first half that woke up the gym. Whyte, a 6-3 Nova guard was controlling the tempo and scoring when he needed to. The two combined for 28 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="953477" first="Hubertas" last="Pivorius"], DJ Courtney, Jacoby Brown & Aubin Gateretse | Miami Hoop School

For Miami Hoop School, a quartet of 2021 prospects impressed this weekend. Pivorius, a Colombus guard was making open looks and tough deep balls all weekend long. Courtney who also plays at Colombus showed a keen ability to get inside and finish. Brown, a Palmetto guard/wing is highly versatile as a shooter and a guy who mixes it up inside on both ends of the floor. Lastly, Gateretse (Triple Threat Prep) is a true big man who finished hard down low.

[player_tooltip player_id="714896" first="Gabriel" last="Gonzalez"] | 6-2 | Miami Dynasty

Shooting is what Gonzalez does best and it flashed this weekend for the Miami Dynasty. The Southwest guard had 25 points in a loss to Miami Hoop School on Saturday. He barely missed in the opening half. He also is quick and efficient headed to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="829403" first="Trey" last="Lane"] & [player_tooltip player_id="956786" first="CJ" last="Lee"] | Team Speights

On Sunday, 2022 Team Speights pair Lane and Lee were causing havoc on both ends of the floor in a win over Advanced Athletics. Lane, a Santa Fe Catholic guard was creating turnovers a lot, finishing inside and dishing out passes. As for Lee, the Clearwater guard did more of the same and served as a blazing fast playmaker and bonafide finisher.

[player_tooltip player_id="818953" first="Dawson" last="Leipold"] | 6-1 | Tampa Titans

Leipold is a very gifted shooter. He had a team-high 17 points for the Tampa Titans in a loss to Miami Hoop School. A true rhythm player, he’s going to put up big numbers at Lakeland Christian.
