The Prep Hoops: Oklahoma State Tournament kicked off at 9:00 am Saturday. These were the players that caught my attention as the day went on. I mainly focused on the 17u division but also got the chance to see a couple of teams in the 16u division as well. Out of all the games I got to see, here are some players that stood out.

Noah McMullan 2022 (Next Level) Point Guard

McMullan started the day with a 24-point game that ended in double OT in Next Level’s favor. He showed his ability to be a true point guard and made all the right plays. Along with making nice passes to his teammates for easy buckets, McMullan was scorching hot from three. He was able to put 4 down from beyond the arc in the second half and continued being the playmaker he is throughout the ballgame. McMullan is a player that will control the pace of the game when having the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id="981333" first="Maverick" last="Ridenour"] 2021 (Oklahoma Power) Guard

Ridenour had a natural feel for the game. He caught fire in the first half and sunk in 3 from deep. His ability to move without the ball and find space allowed him to get open shots and driving opportunities to go finish at the rim and or dump it off to his teammates for easy buckets. He is a pure shooter, and even got a little explosive with a dunk on a Fastbreak in the second half.

Declan Ryan 2022 (NEBC) Forward

NEBC had a presence in the paint thanks to Ryan. He was all over the glass throughout his games and tracked down many rebounds. Ryan was able to catch several dishes from his teammates for easy buckets and also create for himself in the post. With good hands, he was able to have extremely soft touch around the rim and finish with 25 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="955401" first="Marcell" last="Perry"] 2022 (Oklahoma Chaos) Wing

Perry made a living in the mid-post, he was spinning his way through the lane and finishing strong at the rim. He was the first to the floor on loose balls and was hustling up and down the floor the whole game. Exploding to the glass to grab boards, getting put-backs, and dishing off nice passes to his teammates is what separated Perry from the pack.

[player_tooltip player_id="938847" first="Caison" last="Hartloff"] 2021 (Tulsa Hawks Elite) Wing

Hartloff may be the best all-around shooter I saw on Saturday. Taking shots off the dribble and a lot of catch and shoot opportunities off passes from his teammates as well. He has a great IQ of where to be throughout the game and knocked down shot after shot. Hartloff also showed his ability to take defenders off the dribble and get to the rim when needed. If he sees one go through the net, you better be ready for another one.
