Perry Smith Jr Perry Smith Jr 6'8" | PF Legacy Early College | 2022 State #176 Nation SC . – Legacy Early College – Big Shots SC 17U Premier
Smith Jr was playing up in the 17U bracket with Head Coach Lance Gurley. Smith Jr felt very comfortable hitting shots on the perimeter all weekend long. Smith Jr showed great versatility on the floor with handling the ball and passing it at a high level. Smith Jr the #2 ranked player in the Palmetto State 2022 Class was offered by Head Coach Rick Pitino and Iona today. Smith Jr should look to contribute to a very talented Lions roster this season.
Drake Downs Drake Downs 6'8" | PF Mauldin | 2022 State SC – Mauldin HS – Big Shots CPA SC 2022
Downs keeps on improving with his game. Downs a versatile in playing more inside-out on the floor for Head Coach Nathan Owens. Downs can knockdown the perimeter or fill the lane in transition. Downs rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor. Downs feels very comfortable handling the rock up in transition. Downs has made really good strides since the high school season for the Mustangs back in late February.
EJ Huffman EJ Huffman 6'5" | PF Conway | 2022 State SC – Conway HS – Big Shots SC 16U Premier
Huffman just brings a constant effort to the floor and inside the paint. Huffman isn’t flashy at all but he has a blue collar mentality while in the game. Huffman is most effective in the paint and will rebound the ball out of his area. Huffman missed part of last season for the Tigers with a injury. Huffman could be looking for a breakout season this year for Head Coach Mike Hopkins.
Mikah Nelson Mikah Nelson 6'5" | SF Carolina Forest | 2022 State SC – Carolina Forest HS – Confidence Cougars (pictured on the front)
Nelson was steady all weekend for the local team the Confidence Cougars. Nelson plays with Upward Stars Pee Dee also on the Grassroots Circuit. Nelson started the weekend with a 22 point performance and finished the tourney with 31 points vs the Crusaders. Nelson was effective around the basket and finishing on contact.
Caleb Byrd Caleb Byrd 6'1" | PG Mauldin | 2022 State SC – Mauldin HS – Big Shots CPA SC 2022
Byrd made a return to the hardwood for the first time since the basketball season. Byrd was hurt this season for the Mavericks. Byrd a point guard usually plays with Team South Carolina (Decided not to play this summer). Byrd joined the squad this past weekend and looks to be in the mix down the stretch for the Big Shots CPA SC 2022 squad.
