One of the best rivalries in Minnesota high school basketball right now is Cretin-Derham Hall and East Ridge. Raptors and Raiders lead today’s ten best.

Five Best (+)

[player_tooltip player_id="774745" first="Drew" last="Adams"] of East Ridge. Drew was a top four scorer for the Raptors a season ago and he will move into the main frontcourt producing position next year now that Kreisel and Carlson are at the college level. Drew is a skilled four with a pretty touch.

[player_tooltip player_id="850708" first="Kendall" last="Blue"] of East Ridge. Kendall now steps into the alpha role for the Raptors, a spot previously occupied by division one talent like [player_tooltip player_id="846105" first="Ben" last="Carlson"], Courtney Brown Jr, [player_tooltip player_id="532557" first="Kendall" last="Brown"], and Sid Tomes. Blue is a quality ball handler at 6-foot-5/6-foot-6 coming off of a 16 point per game season.

[player_tooltip player_id="774752" first="Bradley" last="Cimperman"] of Woodbury. Woodbury improved by 13 games a season ago and that was with [player_tooltip player_id="774787" first="Mac" last="Lockner"] spending much of last year injured or dealing with injury. Cimperman is the leading with 20 point per game potential next season. He’s likely to be one of the better scorers on the wing in the senior class.

[player_tooltip player_id="850701" first="Tre" last="Holloman"] of Cretin-Derham Hall. Tre is the best point guard in the state of Minnesota and there really isn’t anybody close to his level. The CDH 19-20 rotation was Tre and mostly seniors so a lot has to be replaced around him but CDH will still be good because Tre will lift those around him to be a section top contender.

[player_tooltip player_id="962200" first="Jack" last="Janicki"] of White Bear Lake. Jack is one of the best 2023s in the state and he’s coming off a 15 point per game season making a really nice pair with Kayne Raheem on a .500 team. Expectations are high for another step forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="962206" first="Max" last="Shikenjanski"] of Stillwater. Max was one of the state’s top freshmen scores last year putting up 17 points a game. Stillwater is still fighting to be a contender but with Max they have a better chance than they’ve had.

Five More (+)

[player_tooltip player_id="774927" first="Curtis" last="Favors"] of Tartan. Tartan has lost it’s top three scorers from a season ago and Curtis will be the top returning bucket getter.

[player_tooltip player_id="957208" first="Ben" last="North"] of East Ridge. In reviewing a couple of the East Ridge games I was really surprised at how improved North was from start to finish. He should have a really solid senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="958684" first="Blake" last="Rohrer"] of Woodbury. I was really impressed by the way that Blake played as a sophomore, he competed at a level much past his age. I think he’s going to have a great junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="532602" first="Jack" last="Tauer"] of CDH. Jack is the other Raider player with varsity experience returning for the Raiders. He’s one of the best defenders on the team (and on the Heat team) and this year he will get a chance to do more offensively than we’ve seen.

LaRon Thomas of North St. Paul. LaRon is a worker. Averaged 9.5 points and ten boards a game plus dished out 3-4 assists a contest. Thomas has a 40 inch vertical to get to those boards and finishes.

[player_tooltip player_id="958644" first="Shawn" last="West-Zimpel"] of North St. Paul. Shawn was all league last year and he’s the most naturally gifted player returning for the Polars.
