Another weekend, another great tournament on the Prep Hoops Circuit. This weekend’s Midwest Showdown, which is located in Appleton, will feature some of Wisconsin’s best squads and prospects. Prep Hoops Wisconsin previews the event by taking a look at some teams and players that you need to watch:

Playmakers Showcase 17U (Shaw)

This is a very deep team that will have a chance to compete with some of the top 17U squads. [player_tooltip player_id="804899" first="Zac" last="Johnson"], [player_tooltip player_id="879992" first="Gavin" last="Ralph"], and [player_tooltip player_id="804911" first="Dylan" last="Lisitza"] are all ranked inside the top 50 in Wisconsin’s 2021 class.

ABC Young Lions Black 17U

Liked what I saw from this squad in Appleton earlier this month. The trio of [player_tooltip player_id="804902" first="Jayden" last="Jackson"], [player_tooltip player_id="963676" first="Alex" last="Singleton"], and [player_tooltip player_id="804923" first="Sam" last="Hytinen"] will return to play on the Prep Hoops Circuit again this weekend.

JH1 Elite 16U

JH1 Elite was one of the best squads on the Prep Hoops Circuit last summer. This summer, they will look to achieve more success. Led by [player_tooltip player_id="761404" first="Leon" last="Bond"] and [player_tooltip player_id="761419" first="Ashton" last="Janowski"], JH1 will be one of the more dangerous 16U squads competing on the hardwood this weekend.

Wisconsin Playground Club 15U

This team has yet to lose a game this summer. They dominated at the #HardWorkSZN Kickoff and recently won the championship at the Chicago Summer Jam. Led by Gus Yalden, [player_tooltip player_id="981038" first="Demerius" last="Shakur"], and [player_tooltip player_id="980995" first="Deshawn" last="Webb"], this Playground team is ready to do some serious damage.

Prospects to watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="880003" first="Victor" last="Desmond"] -- SF -- Wisconsin Playground Club

Desmond had a strong showing at the #HardWorkSZN Kickoff in early July. The 6-foot-6 small forward isn’t going to put up huge scoring numbers, but he brings a lot of energy on the defensive side of the court. He can also use his length and athleticism to become a huge problem in transition. Desmond is one of the state’s biggest sleepers.

[player_tooltip player_id="879979" first="Brayden" last="Dailey"] -- SF -- Iowa Mavericks

Fresh off an offer from Toledo, Dailey hopes to impress even more college coaches this weekend. He is a great scorer who is also a sneaky good athlete. The small forward was terrific with Cuba City in his junior season, and he is already off to a good start this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="761404" first="Leon" last="Bond"] -- F -- JH1 Elite

Bond’s play in upcoming tournaments will go a long way in determining if he is able to pull in some more scholarship offers. The 6-foot-5 forward out of Tosa East is an explosive athlete who is very good at scoring around the rim and blocking shots. He is going to need to improve as a perimeter scorer, but for now, Bond is almost unstoppable when he is able to play his style.

[player_tooltip player_id="865836" first="Jack" last="Campion"] -- PG -- Wisconsin Playground Club

Campion is one of the state’s best floor generals. The point guard is a bit undersized, but what he lacks in height, he makes up for in passing ability, quickness, and craftiness around the rim. I expect college programs to be all over Campion by the end of the summer.

Tayshawn Bridges -- G -- Wisconsin Playground UA Future

If you want a glimpse at the future in Wisconsin high school basketball, look no further than Bridges. The 6-foot-2 guard out of Brookfield East has tremendous athleticism and skill. He has yet to even play a game in high school, but Bridges still holds scholarship offers from Auburn, Maryland, Iowa, Florida State, and Grambling State.
