Nick Spannaus (Illinois Hoopstars 17U)
This Decatur MacArthur 6’7” four man broke out playing on two different Hoopstars squads impressing for each in the two games we saw. The forward has a skilled all-around game and compliments that with the energy he brings to the table. He was very active on both ends and is a capable shooter out to beyond the three point arc and can knock it in from mid-range.
Adam Claybourne Jr. (Team M.O.R.E. 17U)
This Longwood two guard put his name on the map with his play for Team MORE Smothers. The rising senior has good length and played with energy from his wing spot. Puts head down and gets to the basket. Showed a knack for scoring.
Tyrese Shannon (Illinois Future 17U)
Shannon is the younger brother Tujautae Williams who starred at Orr a few years back. He could be primed for a breakout senior campaign as well. Like the size, length, and athleticism here. He has bounce and the capability to be a two way player at the next level. Best basketball is ahead of him.
Marko Anderson (Sharks Basketball 17U)
This Maine South 6’6” four man put himself on our radar with his play over the weekend. Strong bodied kid that was quick and assertive with his moves on the block. Good footwork and had a feel for scoring on the interior. Even put in a nice runner for a bucket.
Dae’Quan Davis (Illinois Outwork 17U)
Davis hit the game winner on the opening night for Illinois Outwork. This North Lawndale 6’3” wing put his name on our radar with another strong performance later in the weekend. He is an athletic and tough two guard that can put it on the deck and take it right at the defense with force. Scoring mentality that is a bit of a streaky shooter, but hunts them and hits some big ones. Solid wing rebounder. Name to be on the lookout for this year in the public league!
Luke Morrow (Illinois T-Wolves 17U)
Morrow is a backup big man for the Illinois T-Wolves, but we liked what we saw in limited minutes. Good size at 6’7” and the Joliet West post flashed sound footwork on the block including a nice spin move. Could be the inside presence Joliet West needs next year as a state contender.
Cash Rebarcak (HIT Select 17U)
This Yorkville 6’6” small forward made a name for himself on Sunday when we checked him out. Thin and lanky frame. Feathery touch on his shot. Also mixed it up inside with a couple of put backs.
Kyle Kostes (South Cook Jaguars 17U)
The Lemont 6’2” two guard was very productive when we saw him. Tough and competitive kid that always seemed to be in the right spot to make a play. Gritty finishes in the paint and knocked down a corner three.
