Grant Newell Grant Newell 6'7" | PF Whitney Young | 2021 State IL (Beyond Ball College Prospects)
This past weekend was the most complete performance we saw out of Whitney Young power forward Grant Newell Grant Newell 6'7" | PF Whitney Young | 2021 State IL in his career. He did it on both Saturday and Sunday producing in a major way. He shined against South Dakota Attack in the first game early drilling mid-range jumpers and rim running. Sunday in a blowout victory he was excellent. The face up four man did more work in the paint using hook shots, getting on the offensive glass, and handling it in the open floor. Solid job rebounding as well. Was effective defensively as well including guarding out on the perimeter. Could Newell be tapping into his immense potential? This weekend was a great sign!
Kimahri Wilson Kimahri Wilson 6'2" | PG North Chicago | 2021 State IL (Beyond Ball College Prospects)
The Carmel High School point guard had a big showing as well for the College Prospects group. He is a quick and shifty lead guard that has a ton of speed. Slick passer that had a few spectacular ones over the weekend. His defense regularly was turned into offense taking his own steals the other way for buckets. Got to the rim with consistency. Big weekend for Wilson!
Sincere Malone Sincere Malone 6'7" | PF CBA | 2021 State NC (Team RWA)
The Corliss 6’8” power forward put together a nice event for Team RWA. He fits the new age game with his combination of length, athleticism, and position versatility. Can play inside and outside. In the championship he was money with his feathery mid-range jump shot and also drilled a tough one from three. Rim runner in transition that covers a lot of ground with his long strides. Also like what he brings to the table defensively with his switchability and being able to cover on the perimeter.
Jaden Terrell Jaden Terrell 6'7" | SF Wheeling | 2021 State IL (Team RWA)
Terrell is a 6’7” small forward with a long, thin, and angular frame. He is at his best as a sniper from beyond the three point arc. The lefty has a sweet looking and concise stroke as he drilled threes in bunches especially in the championship game. Really likes shooting from the corners and moves well without the ball transferring from catch to shot quickly. Also mixed in a couple drives including hammering one down.
Isaiah Stafford Isaiah Stafford 6'1" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2021 IN (Illinois Hoopstars)
Stafford can really score the basketball. There is no doubt about that. He is such a fluid combo guard that can get buckets from multiple levels. His three point game is one of his biggest strengths as he hits pull ups and shoots off the catch at a high clip. The three level scorer also drilled his mid-range looks and did a nice job of drawing contact at the cup. He has become more assertive taking it to the basket over the last few weeks. Going to be a go to playmaker for Bolingbrook!
KJ Debrick KJ Debrick 6'7" | C Springfield Lanphier | 2021 State IL (Illinois Hoopstars)
Debrick continues to see his stock soar. The Springfield Lanphier five man carried his team at times in the semis and championship game. He actually scored the bucket to send the championship into OT and then in double overtime he drilled the game winner. Great at opening wide, calling for the ball, and making quick moves. Whether it be powering through his man, hook shots, or showing much improved footwork his offensive game is coming along fast! That is addition to what he brings defensively with his shot blocking and being a brick wall on the interior. The thick bodied post is a very good rebounder as well on both ends.
Hamahrie Bowers Hamahrie Bowers 6'5" | SF Hillcrest | 2021 State IL (Illinois Hoopstars)
With several of the regulars out for the Illinois Hoopstars it gave this Hillcrest wing a chance to shine. He did just that playing with a high motor in both games we saw. Regularly made trips to the charity stripe. His game off the bounce was excellent in the title game including a big time slash to send the contest to double OT. Burst with the ball in his hands. Excels as a finisher in transition. Crashes the glass well for a wing.
