Group 4 is one of the most toughest sections in New Jersey as it features the largest public schools in the state. Elizabeth and Watchung Hills were both in the top 10 for the majority of the season. The talent in the group is filled with talent as it contains many players who will make an impact on the next level. Here are the top under the radar prospects in Group 4.

[player_tooltip player_id="900321" first="Al-Fatir" last="Connor"], 5’10 PG Elizabeth 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="787655" first="Jayden" last="Pierre"] is a bonafide Division I prospect, but he is not the only skilled point guard on the Minutemen roster. Connor is a lightning quick guard who can beat his man off the dribble and score around the rim. The 5’10 guard has a good handle and makes plays with the ball in his hands. Connor is a good passer and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Elizabeth should be one of the favorites to repeat as North Jersey 2 Group 4 champions with Connor returning to help Pierre at point.

[player_tooltip player_id="1018553" first="Jack" last="Spellman"], 6’8 PF Westfield 2021

The Blue Devils won 21 games in 2019-20 and they should get over the 20-win mark again next season. Spellman is a true stretch four as he has a good release on his shot. The 6’8 forward can handle the ball on the perimeter and has a nice touch around the basket. Spellman is a tough rebounder down low and is a good shot-blocker. Westfield has a solid 2022 forward duo in [player_tooltip player_id="1013052" first="Logan" last="Howland"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1018572" first="Sean" last="Logan"], who compliment Spellman well in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id="933727" first="Tayvon" last="Gaither"], 6’3 SG Lenape 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="850667" first="Derek" last="Simpson"] is the go-to guy for Lenape, but he has a strong backcourt mate in Gaither. The 6’3 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he has a nice touch and can finish through contact. Gaither has a nice release on his shot and has a strong mid-range game. He works hard on the defensive end and is a good rebounder for a guard. Lenape should be one of the teams to beat in South Jersey Group 4 with Simpson and Gaither returning in the backcourt.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013031" first="Timothy" last="Evidente"], 5’10 PG Princeton 2021

Evidente is one of the top on-ball defenders in New Jersey after finishing off with 90 steals during the 2019-20 season. The 5’10 guard has a good handle and knows how to push the ball in transition. Evidente knows how to finish around the basket and can make tough shots through traffic. He has a good release on his jumper and has a solid mid-range game. Evidente is a gritty guard prospect who should help Princeton have a strong 2020-21 season.

[player_tooltip player_id="901990" first="Ryan" last="Curry"], 6’0 PG Montgomery 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="900301" first="Chris" last="Rubayo"] is a talented stretch four, but he is not the only Division I talent on the Cougars’ roster. Curry is a talented point guard who knows how to beat his defender off the bounce. The 6’0 guard can finish around the rim and knows how to draw contact. Curry is more than just a slasher as he can knock down shots from behind the arc and is a good passer. Montgomery has the chance for a strong 2020-21 season with Rubayo and Curry returning.

Other Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="929514" first="Zubair" last="Lee"], 6’5 SF Eastern 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="1013072" first="Jalen" last="Pichardo"], 6’4 SF East Brunswick 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="929519" first="Jayce" last="Schapiro"], 5’10 PG Freehold Township 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="929528" first="Trevor" last="Bokach"], 6’4 SG Watchung Hills 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="901950" first="Jahzeer" last="Gaskin"], 5’10 PG Newark East Side 2022
