Grassroots Season Preview: Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2021

With hope and anticipation of the start of the AAU season, we begin our look at some of the top AAU teams in the state. Over the next few weeks, we will spotlight teams and some of the top players to watch. He<span data-sheets-value="{"1":2,"2":"Brooks is an athletic wing with some really good scoring ability and he’s starting to develop his mental drive to take over games. A skill that is so difficult to take over, Brooks has shown that he can really command the game this year. He’s more assertive while still being efficient from the field. He has a wide array of skills, can drive, shoot, and play in transition. He’s best when he is attacking the rim because whatever the defense gives him, he seems to know how to work around it and make a play. Brooks has shown that he can really just take over a game. With his wide range of talents, he can shoot, drive, pass, and rebound, and he is almost always efficient from the field. He’s best when he is attacking the rim because whatever the defense gives him, he seems to know how to work around it and make a play. This dominance has seemed to shine through over the course of his junior season, and he is going to carry that straight into this summer season. One Player We Need To See More: [player_tooltip player_id="783176" first="Isaac" last="Vencel"] Vencel is a shorter guard who uses his agility and creativity to make plays. He uses his quickness to drive straight past most defenders, and he has more than enough strength and toughness to finish at the rim with ease. His jumper has been a little bit rough at times, but he has shown that he can knock it down. I would like to see him be a little more consistent from the outside and shoot a little bit more off of the dribble rather than the catch. If he can improve his shot a little bit more, it would improve his game immensely. One Player That Should Surprise: [player_tooltip player_id="569350" first="Jake" last="Heidbreder"] Although he holds a couple of low D1 offers, Heidbreder is one of the most overlooked players in the 2021 class. He has more than enough size and strength to have mismatches at both the 2 and 3 positions. He is more of a driver at the moment as his shot has been a little rusty, but he can finish among the best of them. He uses the dribble-drive to perfection and doesn’t ever shy away from contact. Also, he always has his eyes up, looking for the open player. He is going to surprise some people this summer, and if he can improve his jumper, he will be getting many more offers in his future.
