GASO Duncanville: 2020 and 2021 Sleepers

<p>For the second straight weekend, AAU basketball was played in Dallas. After a great first weekend with the Dallas Showtyme Classic, it was Great American Shootout’s turn to host a tournament at the Duncanville Fieldhouse. This tournament featured countless talented teams and I had the opportunity to take in the action on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0313.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1008451 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0313-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1008454" first="Chandler" last="Ruppman"] - Top Acheivers Elite - G</strong></p> <p>Ruppman was one of the best shooters in the tournament and shot an extremely high percentage from downtown. He takes smart shots and has deep range. Ruppman also makes smart passes and plays with energy. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and seems very coachable.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0198.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1008459 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0198-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1008467" first="Montez" last="Young Jr."] - Urban DFW Elite -  G</strong></p> <p>Young is a shooting guard that brings energy and hustle off the bench. He gives his all on both ends of the floor and is a good teammate. Young also rebounds on both ends of the floor and often turns his offensive rebounds into points for his team. He is also a capable three-point shooter and an excellent slasher. Young had multiple highlight-reel dunks over the course of the weekend and had anyone who was watching Urban DFW on the edge of their seats.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0195.jpg?1593710478672"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1008485 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/DSC_0195-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1008486" first="Reese" last="Smith"] - FOE 17U Elite - F</strong></p> <p>Smith is a wing with great size that can score at all three levels. He has an extremely smooth jumper and has deep range. Smith can score off the dribble or off the catch and is consistent.  He is also a fierce competitor on defense that can block shots when needed. Overall, Smith is as competitive as they come and is a flamethrower on the offensive end.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1008492" first="Kaden" last="Morgan"] - Texas Legion Elite - G<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/06/IMG_2878.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1003937 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/06/IMG_2878-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p> <p>Morgan is a gritty guard that plays solid on-ball defense and plays the passing lanes. He is also a good three-point shooter and a good finisher in transition. Morgan always seems to be hustling and does all of the little things well. He is also a good free-throw shooter and has an underrated handle.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1008489" first="Robert" last="Billingsley"] - Texas Legion Elite - G</strong></p> <p>Billingsley brings a spark off the bench for Texas Legion Elite and plays hard. When Billingsley gets the ball he always seems to be creating for his teammates or scoring. He is a decent shooter off the catch or off the dribble and made several dump-off passes for easy layups for his teammates. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
