Expect a Different Dynamic for Hoop City’s Pro Week

While AAU basketball returns, there is also a unique showcase taking place Thursday hosted by Hoop City Basketball Club. There is also a scrimmage Wednesday at 2 PM.

Team workouts introduced the event Tuesday at 6 p.m. The drills Tuesday were led by an accomplished group of coaches with decades of experience, including Scott Cherry (High Point University), Bob Thornton (NBA), Erik Buggs (Kingsbury), and Keelon Lawson (Wooddale).

On Wednesday, both teams will go through a strength and conditioning session at ACCEL Performance and Wellness powered by Campbell Clinic run by longtime NBA athletic trainer Drew Graham. An exhibition game at FACS will follow at 2 p.m.

A final exhibition will tip off at FACS on Thursday at noon.

“This is something I really wanted to do for the kids,” Hoop City Basketball Club president Ernie Kuyper said. “The pandemic really took away the opportunity for players around the country to be properly evaluated for the next level, and we felt like this was an ideal way to give players and coaches alike a platform to see and be seen.”

Hoop City Basketball Club is following all CDC guidelines and COVID-19 protocols. Face coverings will be distributed for any media attending the event, and no other spectators will be permitted inside the gym.
