As a scout, I am pretty confident when I say that I firmly believe that the 757 area has some of the best guard play in the nation. Several backcourts in the area have D1 talent at both guard slots. This series will highlight the projected elite backcourts in the area as well as why these duos are must see for colleges.

1. Woodside
Projected PG: [player_tooltip player_id="992530" first="Trevor" last="Smith"]- 6’0 2023
Summary: After speaking with a couple D1 coaches, the idea seems to be that coaches really like the potential of Smith. Smith is already a bonafide leader at the 1, despite his young age. As long as he matures at a solid rate, Smith should be a gamechanger for his class at the lead guard.

Projected SG: [player_tooltip player_id="957894" first="Kuron" last="Coleman"]- 6’3 2021
Summary: At 6’3, Coleman possesses the size to play either guard spot. Coleman is a proven shooter and is very confident on the offensive side of things. Already holding offers going into his final season, Coleman should be a perfect running mate for Smith as Coleman can serve as a lethal spot up shooter.

2. Western Branch
Projected PG: [player_tooltip player_id="957897" first="Cam" last="Edmonds"]- 6’1 2021
Summary: [player_tooltip player_id="957897" first="Cam" last="Edmonds"] is one of the most consistent guards in the 757. Cam can shoot from anywhere and knows how to balance playmaking and scoring. Edmonds already holds an offer and will grind for even more going into his senior season.

Projected SG: Efrem "Butta" Johnson-6’4 2022
Summary: There is a reason for Efrem having such a nickname. The kid is smooth. Already 6’4, Johnson has the ideal size for a combo guard. As a bonafide scorer, Butta will go down as one of the best prospects for his class in general.

3. Cape Henry
Projected PG: [player_tooltip player_id="748763" first="Christian" last="Moore"]- 6’1 2021
Summary: [player_tooltip player_id="748763" first="Christian" last="Moore"] is one of the toughest players to guard in the 757. Moore is a sniper, and has a creative dribble move set that allows him to effortlessly get to his spots on the floor. The 2021 floor general already has D1 offers for a reason.

Projected PG: [player_tooltip player_id="962795" first="George" last="Cutler"]- 6’1 2022
Summary: [player_tooltip player_id="962795" first="George" last="Cutler"] has the chance to be one of the best defensive guards in the 757. Neither Moore nor Cutler are shooting guards, but are talented enough to star together. Cutler has long arms that allows him to bother the ballhandler. Expect Cutler to dog the best guards in the area on defense whenever the season returns. Cutler also can make an impact with his lightning fast handle and slashing ability.
