Prep Hoops enjoyed its time at the Big Shots Myrtle Beach Event this weekend. The event was being held at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center which provided plenty of social distancing and comfort for people attending the event. Lasting impressions mean a lot and so don’t they in the basketball world. Lets take a look at some kids that did just that here this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1015557" first="Larry" last="Howell"] - Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS - Big Shots Select Virginia (pictured on front)

Howell is a absolute pogo stick around the basket. Howell is a quick leaper who does his best work in the paint. Howell is playing with the Virginia based team this summer despite being from the Palmetto State. Howell brings great energy and activity to the floor. Howell has a great nose for the ball and a winning attitude while playing the game. Could the Bruins be a player in Class 3A this coming season ?

[player_tooltip player_id="1005769" first="Ansuelo" last="Young"] - Lexington HS - Big Shots Select 17U

Young plays the game in the paint and isn’t afraid to throw his body around. Young has spent time in South Carolina after playing last year in Texas. Young has a thick frame and will use his body to draw contact. Young isn’t shy to chat it up at times. Young will look to rebound the ball on both ends of the floor. Young could be a nice addition to the Lexington HS roster this coming season with [player_tooltip player_id="986184" first="Cameron" last="Scott"] (2024) already in place. Young attended Kingwood Park HS in Texas last season.

Dinari Boykin - Archbishop Curley (Baltimore, MD) - SC Ballers Elite

Boykin is spending his summer in the Palmetto State staying around the Columbia area. Boykin really excels in the transition game and can finish above the rim. Boykin has a GREAT MOTOR and the tools to really defend on the ball. Boykin has great length and has the ability to swarm the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1017697" first="Josh" last="Linder"] - Spartanburg HS - Big Shots CPA SC 2022

Prep Hoops went back to take another look at Linder during Big Shots - Myrtle Beach 2. Linder a long left-handed forward has a good upside. Linder is only going to get better with more game time and practice. I’m baffled why this kid didn’t make it on the floor last season for the Vikings. I personally watched Spartanburg HS play 3 times last season. Linder works inside to post up and stays true to his game playing in the post. Linder will for sure be a name added to the database down the road.
