AAU Weekend Recap

This past weekend was the first where many Kentucky AAU teams traveled out to play games and most were concentrated in Indianapolis or Fort Wayne. Here’s a quick look at the team performances for the weekend. I did my best to find results on tournament sites and Twitter accounts. If we’re missing something, please DM or email.

17u Teams

Fredonia Elite placed second in the Cape Super 32 Showdown. Crittenden County’s Preston Turley was Co-MVP of the event, averaging 15 PPG. Gabe Mott, also of Crittenden, averaged 12 points per game.

Griffin Elite went 2-2 at the Midwest Invitational. Scotty Draud Scotty Draud 6'6" | SF Beechwood | 2021 State KY had games of 16/16/15/16 on the weekend while Trace Flanary Trace Flanary 6'5" | SF Bowling Green | 2021 State KY had 17/10/12/5. 2022 Justin Becker Justin Becker 6'6" | SF Robertson County | 2022 State KY had a big weekend playing up a level.

The Kentucky Defenders went 1-3 for the weekend at the Ballin Under One Roof event. Seniors Parker Fields Parker Fields 6'2" | PF Boone County | 2021 State KY of Boone County and Spencer Couzins of Conner had strong weekends.

Kentucky Select won the US Amateur Firework Frenzy Gold Bracket. Ian Snelling and Quantez Calloway led Select to the title.

16u Teams

Kentucky Select won their pool but lost in the gold bracket to finish 2-1. Cam Christy and Brant Smithers Brant Smithers 6'1" | CG Walton-Verona | 2022 State KY starred for Select.

Louisville Magic won their pool in Indy but lost in the first round of the Gold bracket. Maker Bar Maker Bar 6'9" | C Ballard | 2022 State KY was impressive for the Magic.

Griffin Elite also won their pool and lost in the Gold Bracket. Mitchell Rylee Mitchell Rylee 6'8" | C Covington Catholic | 2022 State KY and Miles Franklin Miles Franklin 6'2" | PG Ballard | 2023 State KY had good showings all weekend.

Kentucky Future Elite went 3-2 while losing the Silver bracket championship. Luke Imfeld Luke Imfeld 6'1" | SG Boyle County | 2022 State KY had the hot hand for the Future.

HLB from Louisville went 2-3, losing in the Bronze bracket. Sam Powell Sam Powell 6'7" | PF Oldham County | 2022 State KY had a strong weekend.

15u Teams

Kentucky Select split pool play at 1-1 and then lost in the opening round of the Silver bracket. Javier Ward and Philip Bierley led the team.

Ohio based Midwest Basketball Club has some Kentucky kids on it. Will Herald of Highlands scored 58 points in 4 games while helping Midwest to a 3-1 record and the Platinum Bracket.

Louisville Magic lost in the Gold bracket semifinals at the Midwest Invitational. Gabe Sisk Gabe Sisk 6'5" | SG Ballard | 2023 #232 Nation CA-N was the star for the Magic.
