We are looking ahead of players to watch in each classification up next is 4A which will return 2 of last years 5 leading scorers.
Top 5 scorers returning in 4A:
Talon Valdes Talon Valdes 6'0" | PG Juan Diego | 2021 State UT (Juan Diego)
Justin Rogers (Tooele)
Isaac Finlinson Isaac Finlinson 6'6" | CG Dixie | 2021 State UT (Dixie)
Joshua Speirs Joshua Speirs 6'2" | SG Uintah | 2022 State UT (Uintah)
Jadin Penigar (Logan)
6’0 PG Talon Valdes Talon Valdes 6'0" | PG Juan Diego | 2021 State UT (Juan Diego/Jimmer Elite)
Talon is a speedy PG that finds different ways to get to the rim. He can score in a hurry with his ability to get ahead of the pack in transition. Talon has really been working on his outside shot which will really put defenses in bind that play off of him to prevent him from getting to the basket. Last season he averaged almost 20 PPG and he didn’t even hit 30 three-pointers. Talon could lead all of 4A in scoring next season.
6’6 SF Justin Rogers (Tooele/Jimmer Elite)
Justin is a tough player inside and in 4A he is one of those players that will get his points inside or out. Justin has slowly developed and outside game and he has been especially good from 15-feet. Justin can really rack up points by attacking the offensive glass. Look for Justin to continue his upward trend in scoring as he has since his freshman year.
6’9 SF Lyman Simmons Lyman Simmons 6'10" | PF RSL Academy | 2023 State UT (Snow Canyon/Utah Prospects)
While being one of the best players if not the best in the Class of 2023 Lyman has been getting better and stronger every time we see him play. He has added a three-point shot to his game which is going to be a game changer for him. He has also almost become automatic from 15 feet. He is solid from the block and he will simply get better and score a lot of points this up coming season.
6’4 CG Isaac Finlinson Isaac Finlinson 6'6" | CG Dixie | 2021 State UT (Dixie/JM Elite)
Isaac is a match-up challenge because he is long and shifty. He can really run a team and get others involved but he can score with or without the ball in his hands. He has added to his range with shooting and he is also finishing really well around the basket. He has a quick first step and his length allows him to finish over smaller defenders and finish through bigger ones as well.
6’2 SG Joshua Speirs Joshua Speirs 6'2" | SG Uintah | 2022 State UT (Uintah High School)
The Class of 2022 SG is one of the only scoring threats on his team, yet he is still able to go off. He can shoot from beyond the arc and has a nice mid-range game. He is another player that can get to the free-throw line and shoot in the 90% to accumulate more points. Look for Josh to make a jump in scoring.
