2023 Watch List Breakdown: Wings (Part 3)

<p>We will take an in depth look at the guys we included in the 2023 watch list and why we included them. We will continue by taking a look at part three of the wings list, looking at six guys we think you should keep an eye on moving forward.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999653" first="Dershorn" last="Ormon"] | 6’1” SG | Denbigh</strong></p> <p>The Peninsula District has some very talented 2023 players, and Ormon may be the most underrated or unknown guy as he was an instant contributor as a freshman for them. A skilled and smart shot maker, Ormon is a guy who works tirelessly off the basketball to get open, and has supreme confidence in his ability to make shots from deep off the catch. He’s a crafty and high IQ guy who can get to the rim and draw fouls, is a good help side defender and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands as well.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999646" first="Chris" last="Cyrus"] | 6’1” SG | Woodside</strong></p> <p>Cyrus is part of a young backcourt at Woodside that will be very good moving forward if they stay together. Alongside point guard [player_tooltip player_id="992530" first="Trevor" last="Smith"], Cyrus is the perfect sidekick as he’s more of a shooting and scoring guard that can fill it up in bunches and stretch the floor with his shooting prowess. He has deep range and a quick release, he gets hot quickly and he can create shots off the bounce as well.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999654" first="Kam" last="Roberts"] | 6’5” SF | Halifax County</strong></p> <p>Halifax County is one of the biggest schools in their area and always seem to produce some under the radar talent, but I don’t think Roberts will be under the radar there for long. A skilled wing with good size for his age, Roberts was one of the top players in the area and wasted no time becoming a go-to guy and leader for Halifax this season. A star quarterback as well, Roberts seems to thrive under pressure and come up big in big time games. He can score from all three levels, he’s a natural athlete and he has a great skill set offensively as he can create and make shots from all over.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999655" first="Alex" last="Bokman"] | 6’3” SG | Freedom-South Riding</strong></p> <p>Bokman had a great freshman year at Freedom-South Riding and is looking like he could be in the conversation for best shooters in Loudoun County moving forward. At 6’3” he has good size to get his shot off, he has good footwork when on the move and he has great confidence in letting it fly from deep. He showed the ability to attack closeouts and get to the rim but his ability to shoot it will keep him on the floor almost anywhere.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999656" first="Jadon" last="Burgess"] | 6’3” WF | Harrisonburg</strong></p> <p>The son of Harrisonburg HC and former Radford coach Don Burgess, Jadon is a kid that is chock full of potential and should be a scholarship kid when it’s all said and done. Burgess is long for his age meaning he’s probably still growing, he has a great IQ which isn’t surprising and the game seems to come simple to him as he’s able to make the right play with the ball in his hands both in transition and in the half court. He excels at multiple facets of the game and as he grows he should get more athletic, making him very intriguing moving forward.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999659" first="Micah" last="Eastman"] | 6’0” WG | Tall-wood</strong></p> <p>One of the most under the radar guys in the 2023 class in the Beach District, Eastman showed a lot of potential as a freshman on a young Tallwood team and should continue to improve over time. He has a strong frame and is a good athlete, and he’s a guy who can make shots from deep and attack closeouts well. He’s a high motor kid who brings it on both ends and he’s a smart kid who makes the right plays and makes winning plays.</p>
