For the fourth edition of “Quarantine Film Review”, I am taking a look Middleburg’s 70-66 win over Steward from February 26th in the VISAA State Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="798697" first="Isaiah" last="Folkes"] Goes Off

The rising senior actually just announced his decision to transfer to Putnam Science Academy but his last win while in the state of Virginia was one of the best performances I have seen from the 6’1 guard. Folkes has a good handle that he can use to separate himself from his defenders and that was on display against Steward. However, it was his ability to finish in transition and above the rim that really stood out in this game. There were numerous times where Steward left the lane open, and Folkes would attack straight to the basket and finish with a dunk. When getting out in transition, he would also pass when needed to get easy buckets for his teammates in transition. Overall, I was really impressed with the job he did of pushing the ball up the court in transition and Middleburg got a lot of points from that. Like I said at the beginning, this was by far one of the best performances I have seen from Folkes as his superb playmaking capabilities were on full display including a consistent jump shot from multiple areas on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="543840" first="Efton" last="Reid"] Shows Promise

You knew Reid was going to be mentioned in this post and deservingly so. I have seen Reid play a lot of times and this was one of the better performances I have seen from him too. His hook shot was working and demonstrated he can score even while he is getting doubled team. He stepped out to the perimeter and showed he can also hit it from deep. Defensively he caused issues for Middleburg and hauled in rebounds on both ends of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="815607" first="Cavan" last="Reilly"] Is A Name To Know

The 2022 guard is another prospect that also just announced he is leaving the Middleburg program and will be attending Bishop O’Connell of the WCAC. In this particular game Cavan showed he has the green light to shoot the ball whenever. He is going to be a major shot maker for Joe Wooten’s program and has a little Matt Becht in him who graduated from O’Connell in 2018.
