With grassroots basketball events getting underway across the country, California is also beginning to hold some events. This past Saturday, Long Beach, CA played host to the Pangos Best of SoCal Showcase.

The event included multiple showcase games from some of the top SoCal talent from each class (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and even a 2025 game. Here’s some of the top talent that I saw from the second 2022 game.

1. Scottie Washington – St John Bosco

Washington missed pretty much all of this past season due to recovery from injury, and he didn’t miss a beat in one of his first games back on the court. He showed off his ability to hit with consistency from three. He spots up well but he can also stop and pop on the break. Hit a couple clutch threes. He is very solid in transition. A natural ball-handler who sees the floor well. Overall smart player.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="748735" first="Henri" last="Adiassa"] – Crossroads

Adiassa has always stood out to me as being one of the more intriguing players in Southern California since he was a freshman. He’s come a long way since then and has certainly refined his game. A great defensive player in the paint who can block shots and recovers well defensively. Good length to disrupt passes and contest shots. Strong rebounder, especially on the offensive end. Playing with more confidence and aggressiveness offensively.

3. Issac Peralta – JSerra

Peralta is a good scoring guard who plays bigger than his size. He’s a sneaky athletic player who is aggressive on the offensive end. Can shoot with consistency from both midrange and from the three-point line. He can play off ball and moves well both in transition and half-court sets. Solid ball-handler with improved decision making. He has all the tools to develop into a legit combo guard.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="748771" first="Gabriel" last="Quiette"] – Mater Dei

Quiette is a wing with good size and length. I didn’t see him play all that much for Mater Dei this past season, but he is poised to be a regular contributor in the rotation this upcoming season. He is solid in transition; runs the break well and gets out in the open court. He can move well without the ball and makes strong cuts around the rim. Finishes well in the paint. Good length defensively and solid on and off ball defender.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="748768" first="Brandon" last="Perez"] – Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks)

Perez has been one of the top local rising guards of his class. He stands out in particular as a lights out shooter from three-point range. If he’s open, he’s knocking that three down. He can spot up and catch a pass, or he can pull up in transition and knock it down. He can create his own shot on the perimeter and shoot off the dribble. A good ball-handler who can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim.
