<p>The GMC emerged as one of the top conferences in the state over recent years. That will continue because of the skill and leadership abilities of the top players. Here are some of the dark-horse players in the rankings to take over.</p>
<p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="933707" first="Starrell" last="Hearns"] | Carteret</b></p>
<p>Hearns led Carteret in scoring this season with 17.3 points. He did most of his work inside but showed an ability to step out and shoot from deep. Hearns is a strong player with the ball in his hands. He knows how to finish with contact and get to the free throw line. Carteret will lean on Hearns during his senior year for leadership.</p>
<p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="933647" first="Tyrell" last="Murchison"] | South Brunswick</b></p>
<p>South Brunswick is losing [player_tooltip player_id="896463" first="Justin" last="Carbone"] and [player_tooltip player_id="933653" first="Devin" last="Strickland"] from their state championship team. Murchison will be one of the main returners. He knocked down 40 three’s and averaged 12 points per game as a junior. Murchison will be one of the fastest rising prospects in the conference.</p>
<p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="900315" first="Jalen" last="Jones"] | St. Thomas Aquinas</b></p>
<p>The Trojans are losing [player_tooltip player_id="850329" first="Quadry" last="Adams"] this season. [player_tooltip player_id="787644" first="Jaquan" last="Harris"] will return as one of the top players in the state but [player_tooltip player_id="900315" first="Jalen" last="Jones"] cannot be forgotten. He is a talented player with great size and skill on the perimeter. He is a combo guard that can handle the ball or play on the outside and knock down a deep shot. Jones has the quickness to get in the lane at will for some easy baskets.</p>
<p><b>Mo Johnson | St. Joe’s Metuchen</b></p>
<p>St. Joe’s Metuchen is one of the main programs in New Jersey. They have a long history of Division I and professional players. Johnson will enter his senior year as a force on the post. He is not the biggest player, but his aggression and passion make him what he is. Johnson has a motor that does not stop. He is a strong rebounder and has a soft touch around the rim.</p>
<p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="900381" first="Nasir" last="White"] | Dunellen</b></p>
<p>White is another player that will have a chance to step up with the loss of [player_tooltip player_id="896468" first="Tyje" last="Kelton"]. Dunellen won 25 games this season and White can lead them to another strong campaign. He is a scorer at all three levels and does his best work in the lane. He is a big time playmaker whenever the team calls upon him.</p>
<p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="929520" first="Aidan" last="Ryan"] | Sayreville</b></p>
<p>Ryan is an intriguing player to watch in the GMC this upcoming season. He is a guard with unlimited range on the perimeter and no fear. Ryan can find an open spot on the floor and get a shot off over larger defenders. </p>
