All day Sunday I attended Justin Vargas Future Elite Summer League which was held 4 days (2 weekends) at Skyline Prep in Phx.

There were exactly 64 players in the league with 8 teams and 8 on each team. I had the pleasure of watching the Elite-8, Final-4 and Finals on Sunday.

Unfortunately I missed watching some of the players as they had prior AAU commitments they had to be a part of, but I saw 50+ of the 64 players.

I will do my categories that I think most of players fit in. Some of the players may have been great the other 3 days but when I watched on Sunday, they weren’t as productive, so they may not be a part of the 49.

Let’s start with the top shooters:

[player_tooltip player_id="831122" first="Vince" last="Delano"] (St. Mary’s)

-A pure shooter who squares up quickly. He has picture perfect form and gets great elevation on his shot. He is very good off the catch from the 3pt line but can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. A smart play-maker who can drive it but his best skill is clearly his shooting. He has become a little stronger and taller.

[player_tooltip player_id="814508" first="Andrew" last="Camacho"] (Peoria)

-A deep shooter seems to have in-the-gym range. Once he passes half court, he can release the ball and make difficult shots with consistency. He is a tough on-ball defender and he will lead the state in charges taken next HS season. He was one of the MVP candidates of the league.

[player_tooltip player_id="996175" first="Barron" last="Silsby"] (Perry)

-A knockdown shooter off the catch from deep. He doesn't need too much time to get off his shot and the son of a college head coach understands the game. He collected steals and made some plays for his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="814507" first="Davion" last="Butler"] (Cesar Chavez)

-A jet-quick undersized scoring guard. He goes through impressive stretches of shooting the ball with range. He uses his tight handle and ability to separate to gain space and let it fly. He is a very good defender on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="996741" first="Deven" last="Johnson"] (AZ Compass Prep HS)

-Another top notch shooter with range. He can pull-up off the dribble and shoot it well beyond the 3pt line. He is undersized but shoots it so deep before the defense gets to him.

[player_tooltip player_id="996764" first="Brennan" last="Peterson"] (undecided)

-A top-tier corner 3pt shooter. He is another undersized guard but he is only going into 8th grade and is already competing with players 1-2 years older. He is a smart player and the Firebirds are getting a good one.

[player_tooltip player_id="937196" first="Malcolm" last="Smith"] (Brophy Prep)

-A skilled bigger guard can shoot it and handles it decently. Good catch shooter can create a little for himself and plays the game smartly and doesn't take poor shots. He can also drive the lane and shoot it.

[player_tooltip player_id="814515" first="Connor" last="Fitzgerald"] (Brophy Prep)

-A cerebral lefty can shoot it from deep. He can play on or off the ball and shoot it off the dribble or off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id="814510" first="Jamaal" last="Dean"] (Ironwood)

-Not the typical 3pt shooter, rather more of a mid-range shooter. He is a capable deep shooter but prefers to pull-up off the dribble from around 17-feet.

[player_tooltip player_id="996162" first="Lucas" last="Bulat"] (Boulder Creek)

-A stronger undersized guard is smart and can shoot it consistently from the 3pt line. He is most likely transferring to a new school, Possibly heading to Pinnacle. Whichever school he ends up at, he will hit shots and take care of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="996174" first="Bo" last="Dolinsek"] (CDS)

-A bigger shooter who has a big family lineage. He is related to the Peat family and there is a lot of size coming his way. Once he gets a good look, he is very consistent off the catch. He is a smart pick and pop/roll player.
