There were exactly 64 players in the league with 8 teams and 8 on each team. I had the pleasure of watching the Elite-8, Final-4 and Finals on Sunday.
Unfortunately I missed watching some of the players as they had prior AAU commitments they had to be a part of, but I saw 50+ of the 64 players.
I will do my categories that I think most of players fit in. Some of the players may have been great the other 3 days but when I watched on Sunday, they weren’t as productive, so they may not be a part of the 49.
Let’s move over to the top scorers:
Mark Brown Jr Mark Brown Jr 6'2" | PG Bella Vista Prep | 2023 State AZ (Mountain Pointe)
-A strong and stocky scorer from all 3 levels. He can shoot it with range, pull-up off the dribble or take it hard to cup and finish. He also is starting to make plays for his teammates.
Jason Fontenet Jr Jason Fontenet Jr 6'6" | CG Bella Vista Prep | 2023 State #255 Nation AZ (St. Mary’s)
-A bigger scoring PG has a nasty pull-up from elbow and in. He keeps him improving his 3-ball and loves taking it into the teeth of the defense using his bigger body/frame. He also is a very good passer. He missed the first week of competition with a sprained ankle.
Matthew Henry-Harrison Matthew Henry-Harrison 5'10" | CG AZ Compass Prep Black | 2023 State AZ (Buckeye)
-He may be the best downhill guard in the class. He likes the contact and absorbs it to score or gets to the FT line. He is a two-way player and takes pride in his defense. He is improving as a facilitator but more of a natural scorer.
Landon Schumaker Landon Schumaker 6'6" | PF AZ Compass Prep | 2023 AZ (AZ Compass Prep)
-An under the rim 4-man is starting to become a true face-up forward who can still go to work in the paint with patience. He is very good with either hand and a tough rebounder using strength, a big motor and body for position. He can dribble into traffic and smartly finish around the defense. His 3pt shot and mid-range J will help him get to the next level. He was my Playoff MVP as he was dominant from inside and out.
Adajeion Williams Adajeion Williams 5'9" | CG Carl Hayden | 2023 AZ (Carl Hayden)
-A walking bucket from anywhere on the court. He has volleyball line range and a fast trigger. He is a little smaller but quick and uses his tight handle to get past his defenders.
Braeden Speed Braeden Speed 6'3" | CG Brophy Prep | 2024 State AZ (Brophy Prep)
-A smooth guard with already good size and an ability to score. He can shoot it plus attack the basket with a quick 1st step. He sees the court to make his teammates better and looks to be one of the better 2024’s.
Christian Holly Christian Holly 6'1" | SG Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ (Millennium)
-Another stud downhill player but can shoot it a little too. He likes contact and has nice athleticism to score above defenders trying to block him in the lane. He gets to the FT line often and he is a capable perimeter shooter but prefers to use his tighter handle and touch the paint.
Demarion Anderson Demarion Anderson 5'9" | PG Agua Fria | 2023 State AZ (Youngker)
-A confident scoring lead guard can score from all 3 levels. He has a quick burst to get inside and smartly uses the floater or will lay it in. He can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line and sets up his defenders with his tight handle. He is a smart play-maker as well.
Adonis Thomas Adonis Thomas 6'4" | SG Ironwood | 2023 State AZ (Ironwood)
-A long and lean scoring wing scores it easy. He can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line plus get into the lane. He seems to be improving as a facilitator and getting tougher.
Preston Lee Preston Lee 6'0" | PG Orange Lutheran | 2024 State CA-S (CDS)
-A strong cerebral lead guard who can shoot it from the perimeter. He can carve up space with his frame in the lane to score it. He makes plays for others and you very rarely see him take a bad shot. He is just a tough guard on both ends of the floor.
