Film Room: 2022 Chicago Catholic and Public League Prospects

With no spring and summer basketball going on we wanted to do a deep dive into the prospects across the state by reviewing their season long highlight tapes and giving our evaluation of their strengths as a prospect along with projected college level. Here is our Film Room: 2022 Chicago Catholic and Public League Prospects!   [player_tooltip player_id="771525" first="Donovan" last="Jones"] (Solorio) Jones is a 6’1” strong bodied point guard with plus athleticism. Probably not going to grow much more. This kid is a born bucket getter! High level scorer that can do it from all three levels. Burst getting to the rim off the bounce. When he gets his shoulders turned toward the basket it is over. Sound pull up mid-range shooter that can also stretch it to three at a decent clip. Crisp passer in transition that is improving as a decision maker in the half court. Mid-major prospect for sure at this stage. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12305747/5e856cfc041f0c0cfc0a2463">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12305747/5e856cfc041f0c0cfc0a2463</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="996061" first="Tavarius" last="Vinson"] (Dyett) Vinson is a 7 foot center with a long and lanky frame. Room to add strength physically. He is a fluid rim runner in the open floor. Finishes pretty well catching dump off passes in traffic then dunking the ball. Almost all of his finishes were dunks. Shot blocking presence with his super long wingspan. Level TBD based on skill improvement, but is worth looking into for D1 schools. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPT9o1Jcxz0&feature=emb_logo">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPT9o1Jcxz0&feature=emb_logo</a>   <a href="https://www.hudl.com/athlete/11636871">Denium Juette</a> (Fenwick) Juette played mostly on the sophomore team in this video. The 6’1” left handed guard has an angular build. Slick ball handler that has upside defensively. Most likely a small college player. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11636871/5e8833c4a019c10b8c892712">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11636871/5e8833c4a019c10b8c892712</a> [player_tooltip player_id="771530" first="Trey" last="Pettigrew"] (Fenwick) Pettigrew is the top guard in the 2022 class in Illinois. He is an elite shooting point guard that can drill shots from all over the floor. Really good at creating space and pulling up from three. Can also connect off the catch from deep. His confidence being able to take over a game with his jumper took his game to new heights this past season. Reads ball screen situations well pulling up or getting to the rim. Turns steals into points on the other end quickly in transition. No doubt high-major prospect! <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12824049/5eb5ab6419b02c0cf0d6ea6c">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12824049/5eb5ab6419b02c0cf0d6ea6c</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="863607" first="Nick" last="Harrell"] (Brother Rice) This 6’4” small forward currently checks in at #19 overall in the 2022 class. He has Catholic League star written all over him. Long and lanky frame with physical projectability. Can take it off the defensive glass and go end to end for scores. Slick driver that hits the hole and slivers through the defense to the cup. Length plays well on the defensive end getting in passing lanes, creating turnovers, and blocking shots. Not much of a shooter at this stage. That will take his game to the next level. Low-majors and mid-majors should monitor. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12098141/5ea723cd5b3d290948be8aa5">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12098141/5ea723cd5b3d290948be8aa5</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="863601" first="Gabe" last="Madej"] (Fenwick) Madej has good size at 6’5” and the small forward presents a skilled game. Plus shooter from three that can also connect from mid-range flashing to the ball in the middle of the court. Average athlete that is tough, gritty, and competitive. Solid rebound for a wing. Potential D2 prospect. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2DiZZL">http://www.hudl.com/v/2DiZZL</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="925191" first="Andrew" last="Stokes"] (Montini) Stokes burst on our radar last season when we saw him in person. Interesting prospect with a rangy and athletic build. Smooth driver off the bounce that has easy acceleration getting to the rim. Clean looking shot and he should be a quality shooter at the next level. Competes on the defensive end blocking shots from the weak side and creating turnovers. He is a high end D2 player at this point. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11431879/5e6add5ddfd9da1a9cb3557d">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11431879/5e6add5ddfd9da1a9cb3557d</a> [player_tooltip player_id="996065" first="David" last="Gieser"] (Fenwick) Gieser was one of the premier shooters in the Chicago Catholic League last year. The 6’3” two guard made 52 threes while shooting 42% from beyond the arc. Moves well to get open and is a plus spot up threat that can also hit a one dribble pull up. D2 prospect at this stage that could move up more if he diversifies game. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12830181/5ea7bdf5041d8b0594096c5f">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12830181/5ea7bdf5041d8b0594096c5f</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="863613" first="AJ" last="Redd"] (St. Ignatius) Redd is a 6’3” shooting guard who has the chance to be St. Ignatius’ best prospect in a while. Long and wiry frame. Slick ball handler that loves to take it on the baseline. Can also win off the bounce cutting through the defense changing gears. Glides to the hoop. Good passing feel for a wing. Makes plays out of the mid-post both as a driver and scorer. Needs to improve his jumper to take game to next level. Last season averaged 9 points, 2 assists, and 4 rebounds a game. High D2 player at this stage that could very well end up as a D1 prospect! <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tvoxAtT2dDNnLmdsK14o90Vefp2-xJdJ/view">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tvoxAtT2dDNnLmdsK14o90Vefp2-xJdJ/view</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="925217" first="Kolby" last="Gilles"] (St. Ignatius) Gilles is a 6’5” power forward that has a big and strong body. Plus athlete that looks like a college defensive lineman. Plays with a high motor. Physical around the hoop. Dives well in the pick and roll. Snatches rebounds. Better shooter than we had previously given him credit as he shot 37% on the year from beyond the arc showing pretty good form. Averaged 7 points and 3.8 boards as a sophomore. High end small college prospect that could definitely emerge as a D2 guy down the line. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V8eUnyZIOnxQCUFLylBr1j22XrE-Lhew/view">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V8eUnyZIOnxQCUFLylBr1j22XrE-Lhew/view</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="863606" first="Miles" last="Casey"] (St. Ignatius) Casey is a 5’11” point guard that put his name on our radar a year ago on the circuit. Split time between varsity and sophomore team this year at St. Ignatius. Crafty guard that has a nice runner/floater game. Mixes in some scoop shots as well. Plays with good pace using hesitation and shifty handles. Good passer in the lane that finds his teammates in the paint for scores.
