Film Room: 2022 Central Illinois Prospects Pt 2

<p>With no spring and summer basketball going on we wanted to do a deep dive into the prospects across the state by reviewing their season long highlight tapes and giving our evaluation of their strengths as a prospect along with projected college level.  Here is our <strong>Film Room: 2022 Central Illinois Prospects Pt 2</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996069" first="Jimmy" last="Nixon"] (St. Thomas More)</strong></p> <p>This 6’3” combo guard is intriguing.  He averaged 23 points, 7 dimes, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals a game last season per the video.  His passing is fun to watch.  Passes with a ton of flair putting zip on his passes.  Crisp ball handler that gets where he needs to on the floor.  Length plays well on the defensive end at the point of attack.  High end D3 prospect with the chance to elevate!</p> <p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVu0S_jQqxU">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVu0S_jQqxU</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996068" first="Luke" last="Koller"] (Mahomet Seymour)</strong></p> <p>Koller is a 6’8” five man that has good size and strength in the post.  Plays physical in the paint using a nice right handed hook shot.  Area rebounder that has strong hands.  Below average athlete.  Small colleges in-state should look into him early if they need a big man in that class.</p> <p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zASdXRemHck">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zASdXRemHck</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863600" first="Brylan" last="Phillips"] (Decatur Eisenhower)</strong></p> <p>Phillips is among the better point guards in the 2022 class.  The 6’0” guard has a bowling ball body and plays with good speed.  Pushes in the open floor and has a knack for changing gears with the rock in his hands.  Crisp ball handler in tight spaces.  Gets elevation off the floor on his pull up shot.  Low-majors should look into this young guard.</p> <p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDyFVUCP9NI&amp;feature=youtu.be">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDyFVUCP9NI&amp;feature=youtu.be</a></p> <p><u> </u></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996062" first="Zach" last="Cleveland"] (Normal Community)</strong></p> <p>This was one of our favorite sophomore tapes to evaluate.  A prospect we didn’t know a ton about, but man is this kid good!  At 6’6” he is a face up four man who has major bounce!  That was shown off several times at the beginning of the video.  Loves reverse layups attacking on the baseline.  Even caught one lob that he finished with one hand on the opposite side.  Quick and aggressive moves with the ball in his hands.  Can hit a three and has an excellent fade away game out of the post.  D2’s in the Midwest should invest some time here!</p> <p><a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12054185/5e78275c23473e142c63344a">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12054185/5e78275c23473e142c63344a</a></p> <p><u> </u></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996064" first="Kayden" last="Nation"] (Limestone)</strong></p> <p>Nation is a 6’5” power forward with a thick body at 220 pounds.  Good body positioning and feel in the paint scoring.  Has touch and knows how to seal his man off.  Also can really shoot the ball facing up displaying excellent form on his shot from three with a slow release.  Average athlete that can block an occasional shot.  D2 prospect that could move up.</p> <p><a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2DTzaR">http://www.hudl.com/v/2DTzaR</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996073" first="Kai" last="Rios"] (Rock Island)</strong></p> <p>Rios stands at 6’5” with a crafty inside-outside game.  Below the rim athlete that does a nice job of using power and footwork inside for scores in the paint.  Power dribble is a big part of his game inside.  Gritty rebounder.  Sound passer.  Can stretch it out to mid-range on occasion for a jumper.  Small college prospect right now.</p> <p><a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11095428/5e9b3ee49677950c14be0436">https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11095428/5e9b3ee49677950c14be0436</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996063" first="Trey" last="Redd"] (Normal Community)</strong></p> <p>Redd is an intriguing 5’10” point guard.  The lefty has deep range on his three point shot.  Crisp and shifty ball handler that speeds it up in the open floor.  Acrobatic layup maker.  Passes with quite a bit of flair.  Height holds him back some, but D2s should look into him already!</p> <p><a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2DMc0r">http://www.hudl.com/v/2DMc0r</a></p>
