With no spring and summer basketball going on we wanted to do a deep dive into the prospects across the state by reviewing their season long highlight tapes and giving our evaluation of their strengths as a prospect along with projected college level. Here is our Film Room: 2021 Chicago South Suburbs Prospects Pt 1!

[player_tooltip player_id="920944" first="Julius" last="Rollins"] (Hillcrest)

Rollins is your new age combo forward that is trending at the college level. All arms and legs at 6’5” along with big time athleticism. Super explosive as a finisher at the rim. Long strides on his drives slithering through the defense in both the half court and transition. Quick passes in the half court was an area that stood out as I didn’t quite see him being that good of a passer during in person evals. Flies in to the offensive glass for put backs. Can take the ball off the rim on the defensive end and take it coast to coast. Showed solid mechanics on his shot with a bit of a slow release.

[player_tooltip player_id="920963" first="Hamahrie" last="Bowers"] (Hillcrest)

Bowers stands at 6’5” and is a super explosive left handed shooting guard. He finishes with high flying jams slashing and in the open court. Crashes the glass offensively for tip slams aggressively. Uses length on the defensive end coming from the weak side to block shots. D2 prospect with chance to continue to elevate.

[player_tooltip player_id="821763" first="Jakobi" last="Heady"] (Hillcrest)

Huge fan of this 6’6”small forward who broke out as a junior. Long and thin frame. He uses his length defensively blocking shots and intercepting passes. Offensively he is at his best using his feathery jumper from three. When he gets on a roll from deep watch out! Crashes the offensive glass for second chance points and cleans up dump off passes from his teammates inside. Mid-major potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="920995" first="Sean" last="Burress"] (Thornton)

Burress is a 6’0” rangy point guard that played a key role for Thornton in their stellar season. Easy explosion off the bounce on drives. Finishes with acrobatic layups. Probes defense seeing what they are giving him before he drives, shoots, or dishes. Capable three point shooter and uses his quickness on the defensive end of the floor.

Tai Walters (Homewood Flossmoor)

Walters is a left handed shooting guard that has excellent length. He is almost ambidextrous being able to pass as well as finish equally well with both hands. Lots of scoop shots that hoop. Pushes in the open floor. Aggressive defensively and that is one of his biggest strengths. Small college player.

[player_tooltip player_id="920967" first="Donald" last="Coats"] (Thornton)

Very intriguing 2021 6’7” power forward that has a lot of helium right now heading into the summer. Long and lanky frame that he will need to add strength. Most effective offensively as a spot up shooter that can draw opposing bigs out. Smooth catch and shoot motion that consistently knocks down shots. Definitely has the athleticism around the hoop, but mostly drifts to the perimeter. Defensively he uses his physical tools to block shots. Low-major prospect at this stage that D2s should be all over.

Nick Tingley (Lincoln Way Central)

Tinley stands at 6’4”with a solid build. He has deep range on his three point shot both off the catch and coming off dribble hand offs. Most of the video was him shooting threes. Good form overall, but starts the shot a little low. Average athlete that can also post up smaller guards that are trying to guard him. High level small college recruit that will hit a lot of threes at that level.
