The 2023 class is very young and the rankings are guard heavy but over the next 6-9 months, some of these players will have a chance to shine in the Sophomore seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id="932769" first="Dallas" last="Roberts"], North Oldham - Roberts has had a strange last two seasons. As an 8th grader, Dallas was the go-to scorer for the Mustangs and led the team in scoring at just under 14 points per game. Heading into his freshman season, Dallas was expected to take a back seat to [player_tooltip player_id="716839" first="Justin" last="Powell"] and North Oldham was one of the favorites to win the 8th. Then after 8 games, Powell’s season ended due to injury and Dallas was thrown right back into the fire as the main offensive option for North. As he prepares for his Sophomore year, there is no doubt that Dallas is going to be the main cog in the Mustang offense. There is no doubt he can score the ball but his development as a distributor will be interesting to watch develop.

[player_tooltip player_id="932776" first="Kenyatta" last="Carbon"], Owensboro - A lot of people don’t realize it but Owensboro is likely to be one of the best teams in the state for the next 3 years. Their rising Sophomore class is deep and talented and Carbon is the best of the bunch. More of a slasher than a shooter, Kenyatta could be best as an off the ball guard who can get downhill and attack the rim but if he can learn to change speeds a little more, Carbon could be a point guard. The trio of Carbon, [player_tooltip player_id="923039" first="Amari" last="Robinson-Wales"] and [player_tooltip player_id="926901" first="Gavin" last="Wimsatt"] is going to be tough to top in the 3rd region next season and Carbon’s development could be the difference between being one of the best teams in the area or being one of the best teams in the entire state.

[player_tooltip player_id="932782" first="Kenyon" last="Goodin"], TBA - The only player in our rankings who we know is almost definitely going to transfer soon, Kenyon played his Freshman season at Butler but his dad resigned as coach after the year and is transitioning to an administrative role. Goodin is a talented scorer and, if we get AAU this season, he and [player_tooltip player_id="932769" first="Dallas" last="Roberts"] will be the starting backcourt for Team Manimal this summer. Looking ahead to his Sophomore year, Kenyon should be expected to make an instant impact next season and will be a difference maker wherever he ends up playing.
