The 252 area is one of the more under-recruited areas in the state of North Carolina. Here’s a look at Part II of some names to know in the 252 area.

[player_tooltip player_id="577851" first="Omar" last="Harris"] | 6’2 Guard/Wing | Washington County | 2022

Harris had a productive sophomore campaign for Washington County as they made it to third round of the NCHSAA State Tournament and fell to Holmes by three points. He put up solid numbers across the board, averaging 12.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.9 apg and 2.8 spg. As he builds his confidence and develops his game, he’ll be a prospect from the 252 area to keep eyes on.

[player_tooltip player_id="854919" first="Jamal" last="Townsend"] | 6’0 Guard | Rocky Mount | 2023

Townsend was part of a balanced attacked for Rocky Mount led by UNC-bound football recruit [player_tooltip player_id="932135" first="Keeshawn" last="Silver"] and company. He posted 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game at the combo guard spot, showing off his ability to battle in the battle and on the perimeter on both ends. He’s a scrappy, athletic guard that doesn’t back down from a challenge.

[player_tooltip player_id="1008408" first="Jahsun" last="Ward"] | 6’0 Wing/Guard | Rocky Mount | 2022

Ward is another guard in the Rocky Mount backcourt that excelled alongside [player_tooltip player_id="854919" first="Jamal" last="Townsend"]. He produced 7.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.0 apg in 2019-20 as a sophomore in the rotation, showing off their balanced offense, which returns their six top scorers from 2019-20. It will be interesting to see how the chemistry progresses with this group after going 7-3 in conference action.

[player_tooltip player_id="945075" first="Kevion" last="Waller"] | 5’6 Point Guard | J.H. Rose | 2023

They’ll have some adjustments to make with the loss of [player_tooltip player_id="848068" first="Aaron" last="Murphy"] and a few others, but with Waller leading the charge at point guard, they should still be in good shape. He put up 14.3 ppg, 4.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 steals per contest during his sophomore campaign. He’s a prospect that gets up under opponents on the defensive end and makes things difficult using his speed.

[player_tooltip player_id="577871" first="Avion" last="Pinner"] | 6’7 Forward | Riverside | 2022

Pinner is a versatile forward that’s just scratching the surface at Riverside-Williamston. He posted 20.7 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 2.2 spg, 1.7 bpg and 1.5 apg during his sophomore campaign, showing off his ability to wreak havoc in the paint on both ends with his size and length. He’s got room to get stronger in the weight room and as he does, his all-around game and consistency should only improve. He holds an offer from East Carolina.

Clay had quite the productive season in the backcourt at Hunt in 2019-20, where they went 17-9 on the year and 8-2 in conference action. He’ll make the move to Greenfield School after putting up 13.5 ppg, 4.7 apg, 2.4 rpg and 2.3 spg and making All-District honors as a member of the Warriors squad as they made the second round of the NCHSAA State Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="848068" first="Aaron" last="Murphy"] | 6’3 Forward/Wing | Greenfield | 2022

Murphy is a versatile prospect that’s a burden to defend against given his 6-foot-3 frame. He put up 19.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.6 spg this past season for J.H. Rose and will be yet another name to keep an eye on in the Greenfield rotation with his ability to operate inside and out. He'll be a top name to watch over the next few seasons.
