Dennis Parker Dennis Parker 6'6" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State #89 Nation VA Jr, | 6’6” SF | John Marshall
Parker Jr. would likely be our top ranked recruit if we did rankings, because of what he did on a state championship team and his next level potential he already shows. At 6’6”, Parker has a great skill set to go along with his size and athleticism, and is a guy who can play with the ball in his hands or off the ball as well. He can dribble, shoot and pass, has great potential on the defensive end and if he keeps growing he’ll have all the coaches in the country all over him. He already holds offers from Ole Miss, Florida, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and LSU, and with his potential it’s only the beginning.
DeShawn Harris-Smith DeShawn Harris-Smith 6'5" | SF Paul VI | 2023 State #53 Nation VA | 6’4” SF | Paul VI
Harris-Smith showed tons of potential as a freshman in the WCAC and he’s a guy who got more and more comfortable as the season went on. He has great size for his age on the wing, he’s a blue collar guy who is a terrific defender and a good rebounder and he’s a guy who should continue to improve on the offensive end with time. He has all the tools to be a good two way player and is one with some of the most potential in the entire state.
Steven Stinson Steven Stinson 6'5" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State VA | 6’5” SF | Trinity Episcopal
Stinson, like most freshmen, got much more comfortable as the season went on and eventually blossomed into a huge part of a TES team that made it to the state semifinals this year. He has a lot of next level potential as he’s a guy who has good size and may still be growing, he’s athletic for his age and he has a base skill set that includes the ability to shoot it from deep and finish around the basket as well. As he continues to develop his game on both ends he’s a guy who could very well blossom into a high major prospect.
Kaleb Brown Kaleb Brown 6'3" | SG King's Fork | 2023 VA | 6’3” SG | Nansemond Suffolk
Brown had a fantastic freshman season at Nansemond-Suffolk and had multiple 30 point games throughout the season. He’s an off guard by nature with decent size and a great clip from deep as he showed great form and works well off the basketball to get open where he can hit shots on the move. He’s a guy who can attack closeouts and get to the rim where he can finish, he has a good IQ for his age and he still has room to grow moving forward.
Ryan Steger Ryan Steger 6'2" | SG James River (Buchanan) | 2023 State VA | 6’1” SG | James River (Buchanan)
Steger may not be from a big market but he had a big time freshmen year in the Roanoke area where he showed he’s one of the best shooters and scorers already in the area. For a kid his age, Steger shows extreme confidence in his ability to create and make shots from all over the floor, and he’s always looking for the next opportunity to get open and make shots. He has great form and works well off the ball, he can create space off the bounce and he makes good decisions with the ball in his hands as well.
Desmond Roberts Desmond Roberts 6'5" | SF St Anne’s Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’5” SF | Virginia Episcopal
When it comes to raw potential, Roberts has as much or more than almost anyone on this list. He decided to reclassify after the season at VES where he battled some injuries, but with his size and athleticism he has tools you can’t teach and tons of room to get better moving forward. He’s a blue collar guy that plays with a great motor, he thrives in transition where he can play above the rim and he’s a good rebounder for his position as well.
AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’2” SG | Menchville
Clark is part of a young group at Menchville that had to wait their turn as they had one of the best teams in the 757 this past year, but he’s shown potential to be very good moving forward with his mix of size, athleticism and skill set. He’s extremely long and probably still growing, he’s a guy who can play on or off the basketball and he has a natural skill set to him that allows him to make plays. It will be interesting to see him continue to grow and see how he does when his chance to show what he’s got comes around.
