These prospects played in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) from the 6A/5A classifications. Congrats to all these prospects listed below.
Jaylon Tyson Jaylon Tyson 6'6" | SF John Paul II | 2021 State #66 Nation TX – John Paul II – 2021
Arguably the best player in all of TAPPS is the 6’6 SF from Plano. Jaylon is an insane scorer who was able to average 24 points per game as well as average almost 6 boards per game. Jaylon has received offers from big-time Division 1 schools including Creighton, University of Oklahoma, TCU, SMU, Texas A&M, and where most people think he will choose Texas Tech. After seeing this kid play, it immediately becomes apparent how good of a teammate he is. This year, John Paul II was able to win the TAPPS 6A championship with the leadership of Tyson and his effective scoring. Throughout the year Jaylon had many 30-point games, and when he went up against his neighboring TAPPS Plano 6A school, he was able to drop 28 and 29 points. Jaylon Tyson Jaylon Tyson 6'6" | SF John Paul II | 2021 State #66 Nation TX is a name you won’t want to forget because he still has his senior season to come before he even enters the college scene.
Imo Essien Imo Essien 6'0" | PG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State TX – Bishop Lynch High School – 2021
Overall, Imo is an incredible scorer which has made his game stand out this year specifically. He has received offers so far from Incarnate Word, Old Dominion, and North Texas. The Bishop Lynch point guard has proved himself to be one of the best in the 6A Division while playing in one of the hardest districts. In games against the Plano powerhouses, Essien dropped 33 points on Prestonwood and 21 points on John Paul II. Imo is also an outstanding player against the public 6A schools where he scored 22 points against Katy and 18 points against Keller Central. He is for sure a player to look out for next year in his senior season.
Connor Redrow Connor Redrow 6'10" | C Prestonwood Christian | 2021 State TX – Prestonwood Christian Academy – 2021
When it comes to elite private school players in the Dallas area, Connor fits right in that category. The 7 foot center from Prestonwood Christian is an absolute beast that averaged a double-double on the year. Redrow was one of the key players on the Lions that led them through the playoffs once again. In the area playoff game, Connor racked up 22 points in an absolute demolishing win against Argyle Liberty Christian. As another skilled junior on this all-state list, Connor will look to take this talented Prestonwood team back to the playoffs again next year.
Jajuan Tot Jajuan Tot 5'10" | PG John Paul II | 2020 State TX – John Paul II – 2020
As a player on one of the most dominant teams in the country, Jajuan is the man who gets everything going. The 5’10 guard from John Paul II pops out as one of the quickest playmakers in the entire Dallas area. Jajuan also has a twin brother on the team, and their chemistry together on the court is unmatched. The senior state champion also has an offer from Norwich. Overall, Tot is a special player that many people overlook because of the number of points he scores instead of looking at the number of opportunities he is able to create for his teammates.
Kevin Classo – Nolan Catholic High School – 2020
When it comes to ruling the paint in TAPPS 6A, Kevin is the man. On the year, he averaged 9.3 points, 8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals. Classo can only be described as an interior force which makes sense when you realize that he won district defensive player of the year. In his senior season, he was able to lead Fort Worth Nolan Catholic to the playoffs, but they did lose first round in an overtime battle where he dropped 11 points as well as grabbed many key rebounds. Although still looking for a home to play college ball, Kevin had a stand out senior season which gave him the privilege to be on a list like this.
