Here we are at the end of May. Prospects didn’t get to tune up for Grassroots Hoops in March to prepare for the LIVE Periods in April. And normally the month of May is normally the free-agent period in grassroots as teams re-gear up for the Summer. Here are 7 prospects regardless of graduating class who would’ve made an impact.

[player_tooltip player_id="889580" first="Amaree" last="Abram"] 6’3” PG • Port Arthur Memorial • 2022

Although this all-around point would’ve only been playing on the E16 Circuit of Nike. He had a great finish to his high school season and would’ve been making a lot of noise for JL3 this Spring Grassroots season. He was an All-District first-team honoree and was the second-leading scorer on his HS team that had two seniors who are going D1. The shifty point guard who doesn’t over dribble the ball and can create his own jumper. Solid on the defensive side of the ball and is super active on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="779902" first="Elijah" last="Lawrence"] 6’1” PG • Bellaire • 2021

Eli showcased that he was one of the best scoring guards in his class within the Greater Houston area. After a tough run in the playoffs, he was set to have a big Grassroots season with Rashad Lewis Academy team of RL9. Although he doesn’t have the best lift on his jumper he still is able to score over bigger defenders and creates for others as well as himself. He also is very clutch as he knocked down the most buzzer-beaters this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="779861" first="Kaleb" last="Stewart"] 6’2” PG • Atascocita • 2021

Kaleb was crowned his district’s MVP this year and was looking to continue to tune the corner on the EYBL Circuit for the Houston Hoops. He had a great junior campaign and was a big-time bucket for his team. He had showcased his athleticism this year and bodied a couple of opponents in the rim this season. It was going to be interesting to see him play this Spring and how it translated into his senior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id="833334" first="Jordan" last="Williams"] 6’1” PG • Kinkaid • 2022

Jordan is a tough physical guard that has a bully ball game. Strong handle and great finisher around the rim. He will be transferring High Schools next year staying in the Greater Houston Area and would’ve been playing on Nike’s E16 Circuit with the Houston Hoops. Jordan would’ve made a big impact on the court for them and himself by showcasing his IQ more so than just being labeled as a downhill scorer. He already has interest from some big schools but this could’ve spring could’ve pushed interest into offers.

Jaylon Calvin 6’0” PG • Bellaire • 2021

Pronounced [J - lawn] is by far the toughest floor general on this list. A pure point, one who breaks down the defense to get his teammates involved first, then looks to create for himself secondly. He was crowned his Districts MVP this season and helped pushed them to the Regional Finals just one game away from going to state. He isn’t just an offensive maestro but a defensive architect. Has a long wingspan, great lateral movement with quick feet and quick hands to get steal after steal. He was trending going into the Spring Grassroots season and would’ve walked away with multiple offers from various levels. He runs with Mario Elie Elite as his grassroots team.

Ja’dyn Chaney 6’0” PG • Spring Westfield • 2021

This point guard has been slowly climbing up the ranking charts in Greater Houston. He is a very headstrong lead guard that sees the floor very well. Always looking to create for his teammates. He was the driving force for his high school squad and will be a big-time player for the squad next year as well, as he is the returning leader in assists and steals from last season. He will be running with Texas TakeOver Elite - Kemp an affiliate of the Prep Hoops Circuit.

Jacob Harvey 5’11” PG • Huffman • 2021

Jacob was his Districts MVP once again and was an All-State honoree as well. He was looking to show that he is not just a deep ball threat. One of the best-known deep ball shooters in the Greater Houston Area, but he is also a crafty playmaker that drop dimes on the court. He would’ve showcased it big-time for his grassroots club this spring Drive Nation Houston. Harvey has some interest at the D2 level and was looking to turn the interest into offers with his play this spring.
