Rankings Update: Top 2021 Bigs

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Prep Hoops West Virginia released its inaugural 2021 class rankings this week and the updated list features 75 players.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here Prep Hoops takes a look at the top four bigs in the class of 2021 in WV.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="977503" first="Saliou" last="Nguer"] - Beckley Prep 2021</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nguer is a 6’10” PF in his second year with Coach Dempsey. He has good touch with both hands from inside. Nguer shows a good handle for his size and is able to handle it in transition. He also possesses a decent mid range jump shot. Nguer has great length and knows how to use it to be effective on both ends. Saliou bothers and blocks a lot of shots and does a good job rebounding on the defensive end. He is also a solid offensive rebounder. Nguer does a good job at running the floor and with his speed is able to beat his man down the floor. If he is able to put on some muscle, he could end up being a high major. Mid majors need to give this kid a look.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="977506" first="Joseph" last="Udoh"] - Sissonville 2021</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Udoh, a 6’9” forward, just finished his junior season at Sissonville. Udoh is tall, long, strong and athletic all while having a high basketball IQ. Joseph plays above the rim and shows good touch with his right hand inside. He has a solid mid range jumper and has the ability to step out and shoot from 3. Joseph is a good offensive rebounder. Joseph also is a good passer for a big and shows decent ball handling. He makes good reads when attacking the basket. Joseph has great timing for blocking shots and jumping to grab rebounds. Mid major D1’s need to get on Udoh.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="977507" first="Joyce" last="Ngoyi"] - Teays Valley 2021</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ngoyi, a 6’9” C, is in his first year at Teays Valley since transferring from Heritage IJN. Ngoyi has solid touch with both hands inside. Joyce plays above the rim, has a decent mid range jumper and banks a lot of shots. Ngoyi is a great offensive rebounder and he really attacks the boards hard. Joyce also does a great job at sprinting the floor. Defensively he plays extremely hard. He is very aggressive, but at times can be too aggressive. He is a good defensive rebounder. Low major D1s need to be looking at this kid.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="977514" first="Ben" last="Gilliam"] - Woodrow Wilson 2021</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gilliam, a 6’5” forward, just wrapped up his junior season at Woodrow Wilson. Gilliam plays way above the rim and has great hands. Gilliam is a good finisher and has good touch with his right hand. He is extremely strong and aggressive and he knows how to use his body. Ben also has a good mid range jumper and is a decent 3 point shooter. Ben is a decent ball handler which also allows him to play the 3. He is an elite offensive rebounder who goes extremely hard for the ball. Defensively he can guard 3-5. D2’s need to reach out, he will be a great player at any D2 school.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
