These rankings take into account among other things, players’ production from the 2019-20 season, as well as any camps, tournaments, or events taking place before the cancelation of the grassroots Spring season. In this article PH takes a look at some of the players that made the biggest leap in the class.
Jan Madi Ngock Jan Madi Ngock 6'6" | PF Trinity | 2021 State NV 6’6 SF Trinity 15↑7 – I saw him play during the Tarkanian classic. Then watched a ton of his Grind session games. JMN is an explosive run and jump athlete that plays with a high motor and impacts games with his rebounding and finishing ability.
Chancelor Johnson Chancelor Johnson 6'3" | SG Desert Pines | 2020 GA 6’3 SG Desert Pines 2021 20↑16 – Johnson was a tricky one for me. Missed all of last season under the transfer rules, then I got to see him play a couple of times before the shutdown. That sent me back into the film room to watch his 2019 summer games, which sent me back to check out his production the last time he was allowed to play. At the end of the day he’s a talent that can’t be ignored. He averaged over 16ppg as a sophomore and has competed on a shoe circuit schedule and has the size and shooting ability to be an impact player for any team.
Fernando Carmona Fernando Carmona 6'5" | C Las Vegas | 2021 State NV 6’5 PF Las Vegas 32↑27 – I love what he brings to the table. Carmona is a big physical body that plays with relentless energy. A high-level rebounder that will chase balls out of area, He led a 17 win Wildcats squad in rebounding, and his overall impact on his team’s success was a crucial factor in him rising up the rankings.
Matt Morton Matt Morton 6'5" | SF Boulder City | 2021 NV 6’5 PF Boulder City 34↑28 – I thought Morton quietly had a solid year. Even playing behind one of the leading scorers in the state, Morton managed to put up quality numbers. He helped BC reach the 3A semis, and his offensive versatility makes him an intriguing prospect.
Lucas Walker Lucas Walker 5'11" | 155 lbs | PG Moapa Valley | 2021 State NV 5’11 PG Moapa Valley 44↑39 – Walker put up huge numbers for MV last year. He is a penetrating PG that can get paint touches and finish at the rim. He was the alpha on a solid squad responsible for creating shots for himself and his teammates.
Jason Condron Jason Condron 6'1" | SG Palo Verde | 2021 State NV 6’0 SG Palo Verde 60↑51 – Condron is one of the top shooters in the state who played his role for a deep senior-led Panthers squad last season. His shooting should open some eyes, however, he is also a willing defender that enjoys taking the challenge of the other team’s best player.
