Personally, I was really looking forward to seeing which juniors were going to rise their stock in their final season of club basketball. There are a handful of players that I felt were going to really see their interest levels rise from a strong Spring season. Every player mentioned is a junior in the 2021 graduating class.
“Would’ve Been” Stock Risers:
Player: Tyson Degenhart Tyson Degenhart 6'7" | SF Mt. Spokane | 2021 State #144 Nation WA
HS: Mt. Spokane
Club: Washington Supreme
2021 6’7 PF Tyson Degenhart Tyson Degenhart 6'7" | SF Mt. Spokane | 2021 State #144 Nation WA was probably the one player in the state that I believe would have seen his stock rise the most. He has never played on the shoe circuit, so he is mostly just known in Washington and from a few out of state colleges that had offered him before he chose Boise State. He is one of Washington’s best kept secrets. His motor and basketball IQ at 6’7+ is what sets Degenhart apart. The Under Armour Association would have provided him the platform to go up against some of the nation’s best, which he told me is what he was most excited about. We have seen him go up against plenty of other higher nationally ranked players in high school ball and he has out played lots of them. There is no reason Degenhart should not be considered a top 150 player nationally.
Player: Julian Agosto Julian Agosto 5'11" | PG Nathan Hale | 2021 State WA
HS: Nathan Hale
Club: Team LaVine
2021 5’10 PG Julian Agosto Julian Agosto 5'11" | PG Nathan Hale | 2021 State WA is one of the players I was most excited to see this Spring. He had a very strong junior season for Nathan Hale scoring, assisting and defending and I felt he was primed to have a solid Spring travel season. He has the elite athleticism required of smaller guards and he understands how to play the game as he’s been raised around a great basketball family. Agosto has a couple of Division 1 offers, but this Spring would have been a real opportunity to solidify himself as being able to hang with a lot of the other top guards on the west coast.
Player: Jace Chatman Jace Chatman 6'4" | SG Skyview | 2021 State WA
HS: Skyview
Club: Northwest Prospects
2021 6’4 SG Jace Chatman Jace Chatman 6'4" | SG Skyview | 2021 State WA is a mostly under the radar guy that likely would have positioned himself really well as far as his recruitment goes. He has some Division 1 interest, but a strong Spring could have turned some interest to offers. The Chatman’s are an athletic family in Vancouver and typically are late bloomers. His older brother, Jordan, played at Boston College. Jace is an elite level shooter and has good size as a guard that can play some one or two. He plays the game at his own pace and will only get better with time.
Player: Liam Hanenburg Liam Hanenburg 6'11" | C Lynden | 2021 State WA
HS: Lynden
Club: Seattle Select High Academic
2021 6’11 C Liam Hanenburg Liam Hanenburg 6'11" | C Lynden | 2021 State WA is known about up North, but he is a late bloomer special that has really gotten better each year of high school. Hanenburg has massive size and he moves up and down the floor really well for being 6’11. Playing for Chase Young’s Seattle Select program would have given him the platform to play in front of many different college coaches of all levels. His 245 pound frame is imposing and he is skilled enough to score 17 points per game and shoot 79% from the free throw line. A true post prospect that would have seen his stock rise!
