Our Class of 2022 rankings have been updated and there were definitely some notes and game film to go over in order to make our best placements for now. With that said, here’s a look at the top forwards and posts we identified in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id="857346" first="Luke" last="Johnson"], Central Catholic - Ranked #2

After barely playing as a freshman, Johnson advanced up the ranks at Central Catholic and became their top post player. A legitimate offensive threat inside, the 6-foot-8 forward also has the ability to step out and knock down mid-range jumpers. He runs the floor extremely well and is a threat to finish on the break as a trailer. He battled and held his own against some big time players at the Les Schwab Invitational.

[player_tooltip player_id="857342" first="Dallon" last="Morgan"], Sprague - Ranked #4

Morgan appears to be more comfortable facing the basket - and for good reason, he’s a got a nice perimeter touch out past three-point range. But at 6-foot-10 he’ll need to prove himself in the post and he started to get more touches down low as a sophomore and he as nice go-to half-hook move. Morgan runs the floor fairly well and holds his own on the boards and defensively. He’s already picked up a Division I scholarship offer from Montana Staet.

[player_tooltip player_id="857340" first="Mason" last="VanBeenen"], West Linn - Ranked #7

VanBeenen is extremely skilled. The 6-foot-8 forward has great footwork and when he has position, has the ability to get off some shots. He can also step out and hit perimeter shots out to three-point range or create off of the dribble. The key with VanBeenen remains his confidence level against older players.

[player_tooltip player_id="857344" first="Max" last="von Arx"], Grant - Ranked #9

An undersized forward, von Arx somewhat makes up for his lack of height with his length and ranginess. He’s very good around the basket and as a result, shoots a high percentage from the field. von Arx has also improved his face-up jumper and overall ball skills. The hope is that his projected growth spurt is still on the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="964538" first="Jake" last="Newell"], Thurston - Ranked #11

Newell may be undersized but he makes up for it with his tenacity and motor. At 6-foot-3, he often outrebounded opponents - especially on the offensive glass - and set a school single-game record for boards in a game. A versatile player, he led Thurston in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals.

[player_tooltip player_id="857350" first="Keshav" last="Anand"], Westview - Ranked #17

Anand continues to develop as a threat and got more playing time off the bench for Westview as a sophomore. At 6-foot-4 he’s most effective on the high post where he is able to utilize his soft touch from mid-range, or create off the short dribble. Toughness is an area of growth for him.

[player_tooltip player_id="857357" first="Huxley" last="Martin"], Benson - Ranked #23

The future for Martin may be as a stretch four. He has solid size at 6-foot-7 and a nice looking shot from the outside, especially in the corners. Martin can hit spot-up jumpers and can be a factor on the boards and protecting the paint defensively.
