Our Class of 2022 rankings have been updated and there were definitely some notes and game film to go over in order to make our best placements for now. With that said, here’s a look at the top combo guards we identified in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id="857349" first="Dondrae" last="Fair"], Jefferson - Ranked #15

Another one of Jefferson’s standouts that is likely to pursue football in college, Fair lends his athleticism to the Demos hoops squad as well. Similar to Williams he battled some injuries but when he was able to play, he provided ball-handling and some scoring off of the bench. He’s a good finisher around the hoop and gets after it on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="857351" first="Jordan" last="McCarty"], Silverton - Ranked #16

Silverton had a bona fide scorer/distributor in [player_tooltip player_id="604215" first="David" last="Gonzales"], but McCarty slotted in just fine beside the Corban-bound senior. A natural leader - not a surprise as he’s not only the coach’s son but the quarterback on the football team - the sophomore showed this season that he could score as well as pass and defensively, he often took on the other team’s top scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="857353" first="Malik" last="Ross"], Tualatin - Ranked #18

Another football standout is Ross, who at 5-foot-11 may lack raw height but he has plenty of strength and athleticism. When we saw him at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo in the fall, he was outright unstoppable getting to the basket where he scored at will over bigger players.

[player_tooltip player_id="857356" first="Jae’sean" last="Pete"], Grant - Ranked #26

Pete has seen his role grow each year in the Grant program. Yet another football player - seems to be a common theme in the Class of 2022 - the 5-foot-9 guard has good quickness and the ability to be a good individual defender. He came on late in the year, especially with his shot.

[player_tooltip player_id="964543" first="Junior" last="Sleezer"], South Medford - Ranked #30

At 6-foot-2 and fairly well built, Sleezer offers size in addition to skill in the backcourt. He’s adept at getting to the basket and has enough of an outside shot to keep defenses honest. It will be interesting to watch how his game develops as he’ll take on more of the offensive load next year.
