Last season Region 5 had a few teams that could play with anyone in the state. There will be some changes next season as a lot of teams graduate some key players. Region 5 Champion Woods Cross graduates 7 seniors and will be in a rebuilding year with only a few players coming back that saw significant action.

Farmington is in a good situation as they return a young talented player in Colin Chandler and a mix of other players but [player_tooltip player_id="933806" first="Truman" last="Hendry"] will be another piece that will help Farmington battle for Region Championship.

Bountiful graduates a lot of pieces but they have Robert "Boi Boi" Whaley coming back. Not too many guys are going to be able to stop him as he is just a bully on the block. Bountiful had some players that will need to make a transition from JV to Varsity in a hurry if they want to make a run at region.

With 11 players returning for Bonneville this looks like it could be a year for them to really assert themselves in 5A. They played hard and surprised some teams last season in region but they will have to do a lot more to compete. Jordan Citte has experience and can really shoot the ball. He hit 50 three-pointers last season and he will need to increase that.

Box Elder has an impressive prospect in 6’7 Parker Buchannan who is just a big kid that has skill. He is an athlete. He will bring his 16 points a game back. Look for Box Elder to really make a jump in improvement this next year.

Viewmont has averaged about 10 wins in the last 4 years and they’re coming off of a 7 win season. There will be a lot riding on the teams success with [player_tooltip player_id="755641" first="Brash" last="Emery"] a 5’8 guard that will need to come up big.

Woods Cross is going to be near the bottom with a lot of players leaving because of graduation. Players like [player_tooltip player_id="755628" first="Keigan" last="Phung"], Mason Bendinger and [player_tooltip player_id="934028" first="Jaxon" last="Smith"] will need to make a significant jump to help Woods Cross be competitive. They will need to develop a lot of players.
