Burlington County was one of the most underrated New Jersey counties this past season as it consistently produces good basketball teams. Moorestown was ranked in the top 20 for the majority of the season, while Burlington City repeated as Central Jersey Group 1 champions. Holy Cross Prep was one of the more underrated teams in South Jersey, while Burlington Township made a run to the sectional semifinals. Each of these teams are losing key seniors and need their veterans to step up next season. Here are the top Burlington County players with the biggest expectations for next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="929529" first="Daniel" last="Thomas"], 5’10 PG Burlington Township 2021

The Falcons started off the year slow, but they ended the season winning 10 of their final 12 games. Seniors John Paul Oluwadare and [player_tooltip player_id="929681" first="Emmanuel" last="Ayetigbo"] were crucial to the team’s late season success, but Thomas is primed to lead Burlington Township in 2020-21. The 5’10 guard has a good handle and can beat his defender off the bounce. Thomas is unafraid of taking the big shot and has a nice release on his shot. Jordan Dotson will have a big role next season as the go-to big man, but Thomas will be the main guy for Burlington Township in 2020-21.

[player_tooltip player_id="931032" first="Jamaal" last="Morris"], 5’10 PG Burlington City 2022

The Blue Devils have been one of the top teams in Group 1 over the past two seasons, but must replace their all-time leading scorer in [player_tooltip player_id="850361" first="DJ" last="Woodbury"]. Jameel and [player_tooltip player_id="931032" first="Jamaal" last="Morris"] were solid complimentary scorers, but they will now be tasked with leading Burlington City in 2020-21. The latter was the team’s top shooter and is able to get his shot off in a hurry. Morris is not just a shooter as he can also blow by his defender in the half court. Burlington City needs someone to replace Woodbury’s scoring next season and [player_tooltip player_id="931032" first="Jamaal" last="Morris"] looks to be the guy.

[player_tooltip player_id="933735" first="Stefano" last="Faloppa"], 6’8 SF Holy Cross Prep 2021

The Crusaders had an extremely successful season as they finished 24-5 and an appearance in the Non-Public B South semifinals. Delaware commit [player_tooltip player_id="896450" first="Gianmarco" last="Arletti"] did everything for them and his lose will be sorely missed. Faloppa was the team’s second leading scorer and is ready to take the reins in 2020-21. The 6’8 small forward does a little bit of everything as he can attack the basket, find his open teammates in the halfcourt and swat shots around the rim. Faloppa is one of the most underrated players in the 2021 class and is looking to breakout for Holy Cross Prep next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="929515" first="Logan" last="Jagodzinski"], 6’6 SF Moorestown 2021

The Quakers have been one of the top teams in South Jersey over the past two seasons with a record of 54-9. They are losing four of their top five scorers, but Jagodzinski is ready to lead Moorestown in 2020-21. The lanky forward knows how finish around the basket and can beat his man off the dribble. Jagodzinski has a nice looking jumper and moves well off the ball. Moorestown needs Jagodzinski to improve his game if the Quakers want to compete for the South Jersey Group 3 title in 2020-21.

[player_tooltip player_id="901959" first="Marcus" last="Gaffney"], 6’2 SG Northern Burlington 2022

Lorenzo Repack carried the Greyhounds in 2019-20 and he will be sorely missed next season. Gaffney ran the offense for Northern Burlington next season and will be required to do more scoring. The 6’2 guard is good off the bounce and knows how to finish around the basket. Gaffney has a nice mid-range game and knows how to draw contact. Northern Burlington returns three of its top five scorers from 2019-20, but the Greyhounds need Gaffney to become a more confident scorer for them to win more than 14 games in 2020-21.

Other Names to Know:

Tristan Guilloutte, 6’7 C Westampton Tech 2023

Jordan Dotson, 6’4 PF Burlington Township 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="931033" first="Jameel" last="Morris"], 5’10 PG Burlington City 2022

Shawn Congelton, SG Doane Academy 2021
