Day one of the WIAA State Tournament has come to a close and while many of the games were not really competitive, there were still several players that stood out the most in the games that I saw. This list of standouts is based on players that performed the best in games that I personally scouted and not the best "college prospects."

4A:

2021 6’4 SG [player_tooltip player_id="940457" first="Jace" last="Chatman"] (Skyview HS) - A big time shooter that got it going from the outside, knocking down 4/6 three point shots, while finishing with a game high 22 points. Chatman has put up multiple big performances this season and helping (11) Skyview to a blowout win over (6) West Valley was his most important performance yet.

2021 6’9 PF [player_tooltip player_id="611188" first="Jackson" last="Grant"] (Olympia HS) - Not too many players are good enough to be able to attract double and triple teams and that’s what Grant saw in (10) Olympia’s game against (7) Auburn. He would go on to finish with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win, while making some solid reads and drawing fouls with smaller players hanging all over him. A solid effort for the Washington commit.

2020 5’9 PG Jaylen Wes-Williams (Federal Way HS) - An absolute monster on the defensive end! Wes-Williams was all over the floor, pushing the tempo and playing an all around high energy brand of basketball. He finished with a team-high 14 points to go along with 4 assists and 2 steals. He helped (5) Federal Way to a blowout victory over (12) Battle Ground.

2022 6’5 SF [player_tooltip player_id="674423" first="Jayden" last="Stevens"] (Gonzaga Prep) - A player that I have been waiting to have a breakout performance in a game I attend and he did just that in (8) Gonzaga Prep’s tough loss against (9) Sumner. Stevens was super active and made plays on both sides of the ball to impact the game. The sophomore wrapped up his final game of sophomore year with 18 points and 8 rebounds in just 19 minutes of playing time.

2021 6’9 C [player_tooltip player_id="611183" first="Kaden" last="Perry"] (Battle Ground HS) - Kaden put on the single most impressive individual performances of the state tourney this year. He finished with a game high 16 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals. His energy, motor and athleticism is nearly unmatched in the entire state, regardless of class. Kaden has given a verbal commitment to Gonzaga.
