Historically, Non-Public B is the toughest group in New Jersey due to number of quality teams it contains. Seven of the top 20 teams in the state are from Non-Public B, including three in the top four. With the sheer volume of good teams playing against each other, players are going to stick out from the pack. Here are the top performers from the Non-Public B semifinals.

[player_tooltip player_id="850499" first="Trey" last="Patterson"], 6’8 SF Rutgers Prep 2021

Patterson got off to a slow start against Holy Cross Prep, but the star forward elevated his game in the second half. The 6’8 junior poured in 19 points in the second half in Rutgers Prep’s 68-48 victory as the Crusaders could not slow him down. Patterson was knocking down three-pointers, attacking the glass hard and finishing nicely around the rim. He was flashing to the open areas of the zone on offense and looked like a man on a mission in the second half. Patterson finished the game with 27 points and 11 rebounds, which is something he might have to do against Wildwood Catholic to win Non-Public B South.

[player_tooltip player_id="896442" first="Jahlil" last="White"], 6’7 SG Wildwood Catholic 2020

The Crusaders are returning to the Non-Public B South title game with a 79-52 victory over Mater Dei. West Virginia commit [player_tooltip player_id="766090" first="Taj" last="Thweatt"] controlled the paint with 14 points, eight rebounds and six blocks, but it was White who stole the show on offense. The Temple commit poured in a game-high 27 points as the Seraphs could not contain him off the bounce. White used his size and length to score over his defenders and was not afraid of contact around the basket. His ability to finish around the basket is crucial as the Crusaders are looking to avenge last season’s loss in the final.

[player_tooltip player_id="850316" first="Cliff" last="Omoruyi"], 6’11 C Roselle Catholic 2020

The Patrick School won their first three meetings this season against Roselle Catholic, but the Lions pulled off the big upset with a 56-49 victory. Xavier commit [player_tooltip player_id="766099" first="CJ" last="Wilcher"] scored 15 points in his first game back from injury, but it was Omoruyi’s dominant performance that sent Roselle Catholic back to the final. The senior big man recorded his second consecutive triple-double as he had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks. Omoruyi finished with authority as he had four dunks and his length gave [player_tooltip player_id="850498" first="Jonathan" last="Kuminga"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850500" first="Adama" last="Sanogo"] problems donw low. His shot-blocking ability gives Roselle Catholic the edge over Gill St. Bernard’s in a rematch of last year’s Non-Public B North final.

[player_tooltip player_id="850666" first="Denver" last="Anglin"], 6’0 PG Gill St. Bernard’s 2022

The Knights are a year removed from the Paul Mulcahy era, but they are headed back to the Non-Public B North final after a 47-34 victory over Hudson Catholic. Anglin had a team-high 14 points, but it was his ability to control the game that stood out the most. The sophomore guard played under control as he ran the offense smoothly and did not force the issue down low. Anglin was a pest on the defensive end as [player_tooltip player_id="850515" first="Justin" last="Glover"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850675" first="Isaiah" last="Griffin"] struggled to get into an offensive rhythm. The Non-Public B North final is a rematch of last year, but Gill St. Bernard’s is hoping for a different result this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="850507" first="Noah" last="Harris"], 6’0 PG Rutgers Prep 2021

Patterson led the way for the Argonauts, but it was Harris’ shooting that kept Rutgers Prep in the first half. The junior point guard knocked down six three-pointers in the game as he was able to get into a flow early. Harris was not just a shooter as he dished out six assists and played solid defense on Delaware commit [player_tooltip player_id="896450" first="Gianmarco" last="Arletti"]. Rutgers Prep has been one of the top teams in New Jersey all season and Harris is looking to take home the Non-Public B South title in 2020.
