The Non-Public state brackets are a thing of beauty. Non-Public B North might be the best one of all. Gill St. Bernard’s and Roselle Catholic will play for the championship on Wednesday night. Roselle Catholic took down The Patrick School in the semi-finals after losing their first three meetings. Gill St. Bernard’s made quick work of Hudson Catholic. These are the key matchups to watch on Wednesday.

[player_tooltip player_id="850316" first="Cliff" last="Omoruyi"] vs. [player_tooltip player_id="850327" first="Zach" last="Martini"]

Many teams around the state lack a true big man who can dominate down low. These are not those teams. Roselle Catholic big man [player_tooltip player_id="850316" first="Cliff" last="Omoruyi"] has been the most dominant player in New Jersey. He finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 blocks in the semi-final. This was his fourth game of the season with 10 or more blocks including the last two in a row. Omoruyi is a physically dominant player who looks to dunk whenever he gets the chance. In this game, he will have to go up against another top big man.

Princeton commit [player_tooltip player_id="850327" first="Zach" last="Martini"] has been a double-double machine. He finished with 21 double-doubles on the season and grabbed 10 or more rebounds in all but three games. Martini is giving up some size to Omoruyi. He stands at 6’7 while Omoruyi is closer to 6’11, but that will not shy him away. This is a matchup that could decide the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="850339" first="Will" last="Soucie"] vs. [player_tooltip player_id="766099" first="CJ" last="Wilcher"]

Two seniors who can score in bunches will be another interesting battle. Wilcher has been one of the best shooters in the state for Roselle Catholic. The Xavier commit has in the gym range and is not afraid to pull the trigger. Similar to a certain Gill St. Bernard’s guard. Soucie is a smart player who likes to get his as well. They are an extremely balanced team and Soucie controls the outside.

Wilcher scored 15 points in the semi-final while Soucie finished with nine points and eight rebounds. That is an underrated part of both player’s game. They are both capable rebounders who can handle themselves inside among the big men.

[player_tooltip player_id="850666" first="Denver" last="Anglin"] vs. [player_tooltip player_id="787669" first="Corey" last="FloydJr"].

It is only right that two sophomores with multiple Division I offers matchup in the biggest game of the season to date. Let’s begin with Anglin. The Gill St. Bernard’s product has offers from Ole Miss, Brown, and Columbia. Floyd Jr. has been a highly rated prospect since he entered high school. He has caught the eyes of Rutgers, UConn, Auburn, Temple, and Miami.

Both Anglin and Floyd Jr. finished in double-figures in the semi-final round. This is a very similar situation because both players are talented but have sometimes taken a back seat to the upperclassmen. We will be seein both of these players a lot over the final two years of their high school careers and beyond.
