While the rankings aren’t coming out just yet, it’s never to early to take a look at some of the top players in the class. In this article, PH takes a look at players that should figure somewhere in the c/o 2024 watchlist.
Taj Degourville 6’3 SG – Degourville is one of the leading candidates for the top spot in the c/o 2024. The physically imposing wing has already shown the ability to dominate at his level. If nothing else he already has the signature move in his class, as Taj D loves to go right and change direction with a quick behind the back dribble.
Anthony Nwuli 6’5 PF – So far I haven’t seen any post in this class as dominant as Nwuli. Big powerful frame with exceptionally nimble feet. Nwuli should be one of the top rebounders in his class right away. The 6’5 post can score off left shoulder post moves and runs the floor fluidly.
DJ Thomas 5’9 PG – Cerebral PG. Thomas can survey the floor and consistently make the right decision. He’s such and intelligent player, that perhaps we overlook his skill set. Thomas has an elite handle for his class and is an accurate outside shooter.
Josiah Cunningham 6’0 SG – One of my favorite players to watch. Cunningham is the type of guy who you don’t notice all game, and when you check the box score he finished with 20. He is constant motion that puts tremendous pressure on the defense.
Alijah Adem 6’0 PG – What’s not to love about Adem? Terrific handle combined with knockdown shooting. Adem is comfortable playing either backcourt spot. He also has evolved from a catch and shoot specialist into a player extremely capable of creating his own shot off the bounce.
Jase Richardson 6’0 SG (featured image) – Smooth scorer. Richardson understands how to play the game, and competes with a quiet edge. He can get buckets in a variety of ways and much like Cunningham can pile up points quickly and quietly.
RJ Whittle 6’6 PF – Whittle is a big-bodied post. The key too his long term success will lie in his ability to develop his upper body, and improve his outside shooting range. Good rebounder with decent hands, expect Whittle to impact games at the high school level with his rebounding and around the rim finishing ability.
Nick Jefferson 5’11 PG – One thing is for sure, Jefferson will be entering high school with a signature skill. The 5’11 combo can flat out shoot it. growing a few inches would certainly raise his stock, however, he has shown the ability to play some pure 1. At the end of the day, players like Jefferson will always have value as shooting remains a premium.
