Sydney Curry (John A Logan)
Curry is built like an NFL defensive end. The freshman is 6’8” with grown man strength. He was dominant to open their game against Kaskaskia. The physical four man used his brute force to power his way through defenders. He is a big man with size that has tremendous mobility and quickness around the hoop. Runs the floor. Can take his man off the bounce from the mid-post. Seals off his opponent on the block for scores. Powerful and efficient around the cup. High level rebounder that snatches them with force. Went or 11 points.
Jamarion Sharp (John A Logan)
Sharp definitely had one of the highest ceilings of any prospect at the event. The 7’2” center has arms that go on for days! One of the largest wingspans of any prospect we have watched over the years. At this stage he is still rail thin which hurts him trying to finish around the hoop as he lost several passes on the gather before he could stuff them home. Runs the floor extremely well and gets on the offensive glass for put backs. Defensively he is a monster blocking shots and altering everything in the lane. Went for 8 points. No doubt high-major player a year from now.
Isaiah Ervin (John A Logan)
Ervin is a 6’0” freshman combo guard from St. Louis. Came off the bench to provide a spark for his team. Drilled a pair of threes and the long and rangy guard showed his smooth stroke while doing so! He had 6 points.
Payton Sheen (Kaskaskia)
Sheen was a sharp shooter on the other side for KC. The Urbana native is a two guard that is at his best knocking down spot up jumpers. Does have some grit to his game as well making passes on the move and will throw his body around in the paint finishing with 11 points.
Traeveion Jones (Kaskaskia)
Jones had a strong outing in the final game of the season. The 6’0” East St. Louis scoring point guard is scrappy and loves to juke and jive in the lane for scores. Sneaky getting past defenders and in the lane where he displays toughness among the threes. He had 17 points.
Isaac Stanback (Wabash Valley)
Stanback is a player that we have seen a ton of over the years with Hillcrest. The 6’4” combo forward brings strength and elite raw athleticism to the table. Flies in out of nowhere for offensive rebounds. Finishes well around the hoop. Hit a mid-range jumper, but still isn’t overly skilled. Relies on his athleticism and motor to get the job done both rebounding and defensively ending the quarterfinal game with 8 points.
Eric Moenkhaus (Lincoln Trail)
At 6’3” this freshman two guard has a bright future. Crafty guard that has crisp ball handling especially when working around ball screens. Loves the floater game which he can take and make with either hand. Torched his opponent form three point range with four of them. Skilled two guard that should continue to get better. Finished with 20 points.
Christian Wells (Vincennes)
Wells is an interesting prospect. At 6’5” he has a unique body type with a versatile offensive skill set. The lefty likes playing as a face up four being able to knock down threes which he did hitting a pair along with working in the mid-range. Shows some quickness with the ball in his hands. Went for 8 points.
Randy Tucker (Vincennes)
Tucker has grown height wise and in his game since his high school days. Super long arms allow him to be a factor on the defensive end. Tucker offensively is best as a spot up three point shooter at this stage earning 10 points.
Jevon Morris (Lake Land)
Morris was the most productive player for Lake Land in their last game of the year. The point guard can be a little out of control at times, but he has the ability to get to the line with strong drives and being slippery through traffic. Decent shooter hitting one from both levels on his way to 13 points.
Elijah Farr (Olney Central)
Definitely came away impressed with Farr in the early part of their quarterfinal game. He is a big bodied four man at 6’8” and 230 pounds. Extremely light on his feet for that size as he likes to play as a face up guy. Hit a three and flashed some shake off the bounce. Rebounds well in his area and finishes through contact in the paint. He had 11 points.
JJ Kalakon (Olney Central)
This 6’5” bouncy combo forward is a high energy player with plus athleticism. Loves to shoot it from mid-range and play from 15 feet and in. Snatches rebounds and plays bigger than his height. Finished with 10 points.
Juanya Frank (SWIC)
Frank wasn’t in the roster book, but we made a point to find out his name after with the way he played. The long and wiry two guard has a silky smooth offensive game that includes a lethal mid-range pull up game. Also could stretch it out to three at times. Played with a ton of confidence all night and has a bright future. Finished with 19 points.
Adonis Humphreys (SWIC)
Strong bodied 6’6” five man that rebounded very well in his area and got on the glass for second chance opportunities.
