A look at some of the best individual matchups we will see this weekend in the GHSA Final Four.

Class 2A

Fredrick Seabrough (Swainsboro) vs. [player_tooltip player_id="868111" first="Emmanuel" last="Jones"] (Glenn Hills)

Talented frontcourt players litter the Swainsboro vs. Glenn Hills game. Rugged 6-foot-3 200-pound junior Fredrick Seabrough averages 14 points and 11 rebounds while 6-foot-8 senior Eman Jones puts up 18.1 points and 6.9 rebounds. Jones’ ability to stretch the floor and score from the wing could be difference maker in this matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id="806545" first="Roman" last="Son"] (Therrell) vs. [player_tooltip player_id="938976" first="Damien" last="Smith"] (Chattooga)

The senior vs. the freshman. [player_tooltip player_id="806545" first="Roman" last="Son"] is a blur in transition and a crafty playmaker with a winning pedigree. [player_tooltip player_id="938976" first="Damien" last="Smith"] is bright-eyed and bushy tailed, but if he’s locked in from deep he can light you up. Chattooga will have to keep Son out of the lane while Therrell can’t let Smith get any open looks from three-point land.

Class A-Private

[player_tooltip player_id="751856" first="Dwon" last="Odom"] (St. Francis) vs. [player_tooltip player_id="806742" first="JoJo" last="Peterson"] (Mt. Pisgah)

The Patriots get their third crack at the Knights after losing all three by double digits, running out of steam in the second half. [player_tooltip player_id="806742" first="JoJo" last="Peterson"] will have to put together a complete game. He will need to keep Xavier-signee [player_tooltip player_id="751856" first="Dwon" last="Odom"] out of transition and away from the rim while finding his own offense and playing playmaker. Odom’s ability to impact games without scoring is what makes him so tough to stop. Even if he has an off game offensively, his rebounding and passing always puts St. Francis in a position to win.

[player_tooltip player_id="806491" first="Christian" last="Fussell"] (Greenforest) vs. [player_tooltip player_id="868114" first="Brady" last="Burnett"] (Trinity Christian)

With 6-foot-8 [player_tooltip player_id="868095" first="Giancarlo" last="Bastianoni"] sidelined, North Georgia-commit 6-foot-5 [player_tooltip player_id="868114" first="Brady" last="Burnett"] will have to battle on the glass with 6-foot-11 MTSU-signee [player_tooltip player_id="806491" first="Christian" last="Fussell"]. Burnett’s versatility will be important. He can stretch defenses with this three-point range and is tough enough to get a bucket inside. He had 18 points in the Lions’ 59-52 win over North Cobb Christian. Fussell is a handful himself however. His shot blocking limits opportunities inside and he’s a threat from beyond the arc.

Class A-Public

Chris Floyd (Treutlen) vs. Shontavion Bowens (Terrell County)

6-foot-3 senior Chris Floyd’s move to Treutlen has been huge for the Vikings as he’s averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds. He will matchup with another big wing in 6-foot-4 senior Shontavion Bowens who was the Region 1 Player of the Year. Bowens brings inside-out toughness, averaging 14.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.1 blocks.

Desmond Tisdol (Wilcox County) vs. Jamal Taylor (Hancock Central)

Wilcox County has been powered by 4-star future Auburn linebacker Desmond Tisdol since his freshman season. The human battering ram has averaged 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds. Hancock Central will counter with a quick backcourt paced by Jamal Taylor. The 5-foot-10 junior has posted 15.6 points per game and netted 15 points in the Bulldogs’ 68-53 win over defending state champion Calhoun County.
