Continue ReadingThe 757 area is no stranger to valuable players sprouting up in the private school leagues, with players such as Devon Hall and James McAdoo having starred in the TCIS, then gone on to have brilliant careers at the next level. This article will review a handful of intriguing private school prospects in the area, although there are plenty more worth watching that will be spotlighted later.
Kendon Peebles- 6’4 Wing- Sophomore/Hampton Christian. Kendon Peebles may be a young player, but he already has the ideal size for a combo guard at the next level. Already averaging over 20 points a game, Peebles uses his size and outstanding athleticism to take advantage of smaller matchups on the court. The young man recently even caught a lob and slammed it down, something you don’t see to often from someone in your backcourt. Given his size, length and age, Peebles will be one to keep an eye on as he continues to make a name for himself in the area. He also has a 3.4 GPA and will soon take college credit courses, showing a dedication and work ethic in all aspects of life.
Jordan Battle– 6’3 Guard- Senior/Norfolk Collegiate. Simply put, you won’t find many guards who are able to fill it up better than Battle from Collegiate. This powerfully built guard is as steady as they come, and him scoring under 25 in an outing is an outlier. On top of this, the scariest aspect of his game is that he is pass first. With such an aptitude for scoring mixed with great size and his ability to finish with both hands, it will be a tragedy if any coaches miss out on the opportunity to scoop this player up.
Kaleb Brown- 6’1 Guard- Freshman/NSA. Perhaps no other young guard has seen his stock rise as much in the area as Kaleb Brown. Brown recently won player of the week and deservedly so; he can put the ball in the basket with ease. Recently he dropped 35 points against Jordan Battle in a game that turned out to be an absolute thriller. Already a consistent scorer, what stands out is that Brown loves to disrupt on defense, using his length and quickness to jump the passing lanes well. The future is bright for this young man, and as he grows in his game, so will the interest from schools.
Misha Zurabashvili- 6’6 Forward- Senior/Catholic. To put it simply, this smooth wing is about as good of a shooter as you will see in the area. Zurabashvili combines his outstanding shooting touch with a sharp IQ, using his jumper to lure defenders with a pump fake before breezing on by. This wing is smooth and a natural scorer, comfortable from deep, a one dribble pull up from mid, or posting up smaller players. With his 4.1 GPA, Zurabashvili is a safe bet for schools who want a player they know will prosper off the court. As he continues his senior campaign, look for the interest in his services to pick up.
