Here are the top performances from last week:
Carson Hegerle, West Fargo
The Packers went 1-1 last week, earning a terrific win over Devils Lake before a blowout loss to West Fargo Sheyenne. Carson Hegerle was a bright spot in both games, leading the Packers with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists in the win over the Firebirds before scoring 14 points with three rebounds and a pair of assists in the loss to the Mustangs. The sophomore guard is going to be a big key for the Packers in the postseason if they hope to have an extended stay.
Keagen Woodbury, Bismarck Legacy
Bismarck Legacy is on fire right now and Woodbury was the catalyst last week in helping the team add two more wins to its current streak. The 6-foot junior scored 16 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists in the Sabers’ win over Minot. He one-upped that performance with a 22 point (on 5-for-11 shooting), four rebound, two assist, four steal effort in the win over Bismarck Century, while playing a key role in locking up the Patriots’ guards Cade Feeney and Ian Ely.
Trey Brandt, Beulah
Brandt just keeps piling up impressive performances. The sophomore guard scored 20 points and grabbed three rebounds and had four steals in a win over Mott-Regent. He had perhaps his best game of the season in a blowout win over Bowman County Saturday, scoring 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting with seven made 3-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Steele Hansen, Oakes
Oakes picked up two wins last week including an upset win over a state-ranked Richland team. The key cog in both efforts was forward Steele Hansen. The 5-foot-11 junior has been a double-double machine all year and he notched two more last week. He scored 12 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out five assists in a thorough victory over Carrington and had one of his best performances of the season, scoring 20 points and hauling in 19 boards in the win over the Colts.
