Here are some performances of note around the league:
CJ Powell, junior, Highland Park:
The 6-foot-7 Powell was too big for Topeka West. He poured in 21, exactly his average. Powell has scored more than 20 in five of the last six for the Scots.
Jahi Peppers, junior, and Juan’Tario Roberts, sophomore, Highland Park:
The two lightning-bugs in the Scot backcourt matched up favorably with the bigger guards for the Chargers. Highland Park held Elijah Brooks and Trevion Alexander to a combined 23 points. Peppers notched 16 and Roberts added 9 to exceed the production from the Topeka West stars.
Peyton Weixelman, senior, Manhattan:
In the customary balanced attack by the Indians the 5-foot-11 senior, poured in 15 points. He drilled four of five shoots from deep as Manhattan steamrolled Seaman.
Noah Krueger, senior Washburn Rural:
The 6-foot-1 senior opened with two three pointers, then canned a big three-pointer to spark a comeback in the final two minutes. Kruger finished with 13, while helping hold Hayden guards John Roeder and Vacarrio Triplett to a combined 15.
Da’Vonshai Harden, senior, and King Sutton, senior, Topeka High:
The Trojans held off Junction City at home. Harden was quiet from the perimeter, but couldn’t be stopped going to the bucket. He topped Topeka High with 18. Sutton made two thunderous dunks at key intervals, and finished with 17.
