Eight teams single elimination winner take all. Hosted by D1 Nevada, this event was a great way to showcase some of the future stars of Nevada Prep basketball. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the standouts from the tournament.
Alijah Adem 6’0 PG Chosen Few 2024 -The race for top player in the 2024 class is on. Alijah Adem has officially thrown his name into the ring. His game is predicated on his handle, and his ability to get anywhere he wants off the bounce. Good separation skills combined with knockdown shooting. He has a really smooth game, It almost looks as if he’s gliding to the rim while playing through contact. Was the MVP of the tournament helping Chosen Few to the title despite having only six players?
Anthony Nwuli 6’5 PF LV Panthers 2024 – Really liked what I saw from Nwuli. Big strong kid with good feet. Good in area rebounder, willing to sprint the floor. Nwuli needs to improve his out of area rebounding, and his hands, however, he has a great motor and already has multiple post moves that he uses.
Ryder Bryan 6’5 PF LV Shooters 2024 – Bryan is a banger 4. Good IQ with willingness to pass from the post. Has a developing post-game, that was good enough to command doubles teams most of the day. He’s still very raw. Bryan needs to improve his conditioning and out of area rebounding, however, he has good size and enough skill to become a prospect.
Gianni Rodriguiz 6’3 SF Feetz Squad 2022 – This was the first time I saw Rodriguiz since WODE camp. The 6’3 lefty spent most of the day in the high post. However, he showed flashes of his driving ability, and ballhandling, as well as a nice touch around the rim. He’s going to need to get stronger and stretch his shooting range. But he has a good skill set and high motor.
Giali Chapman 6’0 PG Chosen Few 2023 – Big weekend for Chapman. a day after he and fellow 2023 PG Elijah Burney lead Centennial to the freshmen tournament title, he partnered with Adem to bring the Chosen few another chip. I WANT WINNERS. Chapman showed that he is just that. His strengths include shooting ability which he has out past the college 3. More of a combo, but he does show the ability to make plays for teammates off the bounce. Good competitor he and Adem took turns making big shots, for Chosen Few, while leading them to the title.
