Karl Chavis– 6’5 Forward/Oscar Smith. Chavis is an incredibly gifted athlete that has returned to the court just in time to help Oscar Smith make a final push before the playoffs. Blessed with length and athleticism, Chavis has no issue guarding positions 1 through 4, using his quickness and size to be a disruption on the defensive end. On top of that, Chavis is liable to catch a backdoor lob, and is strong in the post as well as around the basket. Keep an eye on Chavis to be the defensive anchor as Oscar Smith remains a threat to win it all this year.
Marcus Banks Jr-6’4 Combo Guard/Bethel. Banks is no stranger to a high level of competition. Since he began his high school career, Banks has played for AAU powerhouses such as Boo Williams and has prospered. This season with Bethel, Banks has stepped up as a senior to lead them in several categories as the main guard, showing off a promising shooting stroke and a desire to compete. Banks is a large guard who can play the point or off the ball, and is a solid prospect if you are in need of a guard that is willing to do whatever you need in order to win.
Shamarr Yates- 6’2 Combo Guard/First Colonial. Shamarr Yates and his backcourt mate, Amanii Jackson, have established themselves as one of the best backcourts in the area in their senior campaigns. Yates is a guard with a muscular frame who loves to body you up. This season, Yates is averaging just under 20 a game and stacks on 3 steals per night, showing his defensive tenacity. On top of this, Yates is a sneaky athlete who has a couple poster dunks on his resume. With his defense and solid offensive skill set, Yates is a player to follow for the rest of the season.
Amanii Jackson- 6’0 Point Guard/First Colonial. Amanii Jackson is one of the most consistent point guards in the 757 in terms of production. Averaging 14 points and over 5 assists, Jackson is a playmaking guard who is not afraid to pour it on when his team needs it, as evidenced with his 18 points against a deep Green Run team. With shifty handles, a pass first mentality and his calm demeanor, Jackson is a very good guard who brings toughness and leadership to the game.
Terry White– 6’1 Combo Guard/Grafton. Terry White is doing big things in his final year of high school. As of now, the lead guard for Grafton is averaging 21 points and 6 boards a game. White has developed into a scoring threat from the lead guard position despite being a willing passer, showing an ability to adapt to his teams need. Perhaps most impressive from this guard is his energy and rebounding ability. As a point guard, White rebounds exceptionally well, an ability not all guards possess. He also competes regardless of the score, refusing to take plays off. White is a mature, physical guard that would be a great addition to a school in need of a scrappy player.
