Lehi vs. Alta
Alta came into the game with a few good wins under their resume and Lehi seem to be surging. With three players in double figures. Noa Gonsalves is at it again as he lead the charge on this upset win. Noa has a nice motor and he can get into the lanes and finish for himself and create for other players. With 12 seconds to go Lehi pulled off the win while being down one on the road. The game winner was hit by Class of 2021 Tyson Hawkins on a heads up, high IQ dish by Noa. Tyson finished with 11 points.
Cyprus vs. Copper Hills
If you have seen Cyprus play you see Coach Tre Smith roaming the sidelines coaching his tail off like most coaches. This time after a busted screen play at the top of the key. Freshman G Quentin Meza elevated over two defenders and his own teammate to hit a game winner from the foul line as time expires for the huge upset over Copper Hills. The 5’10 guard had 19 points and hit the biggest shot of his young career at the high school level.
Bountiful vs. Lone Peak
Robert Whaley is finding a groove. He lead The Braves upset bid of Lone Peak with 29 points. Boi Boi is a load inside and he is making teams pay. College coaches need to come see and assess what they can do with him at 6’5 260 and an athlete. You have to take a look at him.
Pleasant Grove vs. Riverton
Riverton was lead by an unlikely player in Mitchell Applegate a seldom used 5’11 guard that played his first varsity game. He lead all scores with 24 points in an OT win against Pleasant Grove. This could be the spark Riverton needs on offense to spread the floor more.
Snow Canyon vs. Pine View
McKay Mecham hit 3 huge three-pointers in an upset win over one of the best teams in 4A in Pine View. Snow Canyon was able to hold Pine View to 1 player in double digits. This upset just made Region 9 more interesting.
Timpanogos vs. Timpview
In a rivalry game it’s hard to say it was an upset but Timpanogos went on run to end the 4th as they won the 4th 18-9. Giving up 18 points in the 4th is rough. Jackson Holcombe has huge. The 6’6 big had 25 points as it was his turn to shine in one of Timpanogos’ bigger games this season.
